Sophomore Class No longer inexperienced, but seasoned Sopho- mores, the class of '50 returned to the halls of Notre Dame to take its part in the school's activities. Not to be outdone by dignified upperclass- men, the Sophomores were determined to be represented in every school activity. Their ranks contained some of the most active mem- bers of the band. The Schola Cantorum also claimed many of them as members, while the activities of the Dramatic Arts Club enticed others. Among the latter were Mary Ann Aver- beck and Ralph Thieman, who were contestants in the C.I.S.L. contests. Broadcaster reporting was the activity of still others. Quite a number of boys took an active part in the reserve football and basketball schedule, proving they were just biding their time to become active Raider squad members in their junior and senior years.
