gat 7loZ,4lou This lS the day that I have dreaded for years I knew It would come but I feared that day when the school doors would close behrnd me and a lxttle plece of paper would say that I hac received all that the rooms and halls and lab had to offer me really happened yesterday I was dressed in cap and gown I marched proudly and unfllnchingly up to recelve my dlploma I accepted the congratulamons of all my frlends and relatives They gathered at my home to share the not too fatted calf And as they left they all sald Good luck' The more fervent sald May God be wlth you al ways I WASNT GOING AWAY All that happened was that I graduated from hxgh school Why all these best wlshes? I know today Today I step out Into a new world Today I walk alone as a youn person Into the bus later on for those whom God wrll commxt to my care Today I stand by myself Alone Alone? No far from xt I stand by myself but not alone I brmg wrth me many thmgs FIRST I bring all the knowledge that for the last twelve years was sometimes poured over my soft bram was beaten into my thlck head was somehow or other given me by those who loved and cared for me more than I knew am accompanied also by the great knowledge of Gods truth that I am an all important speck rn the mflmty of space That the Son of God loved me so much that I-Ie gladly accepted the throne of the Cross That my future ls not of thxs world but for the fu ture with Him ln Heaven forever Wlth me goes Gods laws to love Him and to love His images which I flnd in the souls of other men ALONE Why I carry the best wishes of my friends who helped me help myself Those guys and gals who rounded out my character to make me a better man for a better world My folks go w1th me too my Mom whose love for me knew no llrmts mv Dad whose manly vrrtues were lmpressed forever on my heart by h1s good example My teachers those consecrated women who worked all day and sometrme far 1nto the evenmg L0 gxve me all they could to flt me for thrs day they are wlth me The prlests God bless them they w1ll be always wrth me In their Masses thexr prayers thexr labors a con stant remembrance And Assumptxon Hrgh School wlll be there wlth me always the Splflt that has pervaded its old halls came down the staircase to accompany me ALONE I am not alone I stand by myself but I AM NOT ALONE And I am NO'I' afrald because I am gomg forth m to a new world to make a mark for myself the l1fe of Chrlst whlch was the way lard out for me step forward to be ln the world but not of it face the future wxth hope because God and His graces My prxest counsellors and teachers My friends and relatlves ARE with me O God who loves me wrth an mflnite love drrect my steps from this day forward Help me to use all my talents for Thee Aid me to llve my life for Thee Assist me to dedicate my body and soul to all that ls Thy purpose I love Thee Jesus And Ill never forget you O Blessed Mother who meant so much to me dur mg all my school days Bless those who have helped me to reach this important day of my lxfe Keep them always ln thy care that they may continue to bring good mto the lives of others Bless me too now more than ever before Keep me pure and holy Brmg to my heart a bum lng love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament Lord stay wlth me always Bless me May the wishes of all my friends come true May God be with you always gg .
