SPANISH CLUB The newly formed Spanish Club under the moderation of Sister Mary Dorothy was a great success. lt was comprised almost entirely of Spanish ll students. One of the most festive activities en- ioyed by both the Spanish Club and other language clubs was the breaking of a pinata at the multi-lingual Christmas party. The officers of the club produced the masterpiece-a huge paper mache clown, filled with candy and small toys. The honor of breaking the pinata went to president Fran Pirozzola. Both of N. D.'s foreign exchange stu- dents spoke to the club and everyone benefitted from their information. At the March meeting Mrs. Stebbins surprised the members by bringing Spanish folk records and teaching songs and dances. Putting on the final touches for their Christmas Forty decorations are Elizabeth Stebbins, Maureen Minch, Sister M, Dorothy, Eileen McDowell, and Francis Pirozolla. 93 GERIVIAN CLUB German Club monthly meetings con- sisted of reports on Beer Steins and German Bingo Games. The major proiect of the year was a dance held in October. ln March Miss Elsa Brookfield visited us and told of her experiences while living in Germany and Austria. The final meeting was marked with the presentation of awards for various club activities. Getting some more insight into the culture of Germany are Kathleen Esposito, Georgianna Glace, Sister Mary Ann, Margaret Constantine, Jennifer Lucas, William Coughlin, Terrance Kirkpatrick, Lawrence Sullivan, Kevin McCormick and Thomas Pellingra.

LATIN CLUB Discussing plans for their banquet are Gary Thaler, Laurene Logonegro, Daniel Rice, Karen Pesesky, Jane Lilley, Kathleen McCarthy, Howard Ransey, Sandra Bazyk, Sister M. Michael, and Theresa Raniewicz. FRENCH CLUB The French Club strived for cultural achievement through lectures, movies and an exchange program with the French IV students at Horseheads High School. The students discussed Le Bourgeois Gentil- homme and then gave their opinions on the value of a French IV course. The members visited the language lab at Elmira College and Miss Main from the college explained her courses at the col- lege as a French maior. Waiting for a film to begin are French Club members Mary Ann Rich, Janine Mauche Ikneelingt. Sister Maureen, and Constance Schaffer Iseatedl, and William Powell, James Leahy, leon Krazeuski, Kathleen Brunozzi, Robert Kelly. Two Roman films highlighted the first Latin Club meeting. In November and March the club placed their newspaper Vox Populi on sale. Latin Club members entertained with Latin carols at the Inter- Language Christmas party. Sister Maureen addressed the club on her recent trip to Rome in January. The climax of a busy year was in May when the Latin Banquet was held in the highest Roman Tradition. 92

Medicorps members taking a look at the records and learning the correct procedure for filing are: Mary Ann Rich, Ellen Lagenegro, Gloria Cornacchio, Mary Lou Vetter, Elizabeth Pesesky, Karen Marinan, and Mrs. Bumbalo. BOOKMARK CLUB Going through the daily Library routine are Joan Green, Karen Marinan, Martha Haar, Kathleen Donahoe, and Mary Fran Milliken. IVIEDICORPS The Medicorps is a club which pro- motes interest and insight in all phases of the medical field. The members work with the Red Cross, Visiting Nurse and Health Association. Guided by Sister M. Marcellinus and Mrs. Bumbalo, the school nurse, they hold bake sales, car washes and raffles to raise money for supplies needed in the school health room. The members also hear speakers from the various areas of medicine and view films on different diseases and their cures. In carrying out its chief purpose of encouraging both students and faculty to use the library more effectively the Book- mark Club has promoted a program of service to others through the library. The first proiect concerning others in- cluded a Coffee Hour with the members of the Southside Library Club. In co- operation with a Diocesan proiect, to establish a library for grade school chil- dren at the Sister of Mercy Joseph Avenue Proiect in Rochester, the club has collected and donated books and encyclopedia. 94
