Future Teachers Stephanie Swanson, Kathleen Gush, Jean Tuohy, Mary Theresa Coughlin, Theresa Gilbert, and Theresa Von Wert discuss plans for Teacher Appreciation Day with their moderator, Sister M, William, FUTURE TEACHERS This year the Future Teachers of America has stressed the importance of assistance with a special emphasis on teacher aid. The club's activities included helping moderate the PSAT and entrance exams and attending the State Future Teachers Conference in Rochester, April 7 and 8. Miss Carol Morris of Elmira College spoke on college courses, practice teaching and college activities in general, while Mrs. Thomas Reidy of Horseheads High School discussed Why Teaching Rather Than lndustry. Teacher Appreciation Day was held in May, when faculty members received flowers from the club in recognition of their service to the school and the students. Sister M. Joachim checks an answer with Math Club members Robert Jurusik, linda Pembrook, Margaret Constantine, Constance Schaffer, Christine Longwell, Joseph Kane, Stanley Stefanski, and Thomas Pellingra. SCIENCE The Science Club is an organization dedicated to expanding and improving the students' knowledge of science outside of the classroom. Throughout the year its members plan and perform experiments to prove or disprove various scientific con- cepts. IVIATH CLUB The Math Club studied by the use of film strips, movies and reports of members, probability and computer mathematics. The challenge of math problems was ex- plored. The Jolly Beggars played at the Math Club dance on December 9, 1966. At the end of the year, seniors in the Math Club with averages of 9070 or above received National Math Club certification. Delving into the mysteries of science are Joseph Coletta, Mark Creighton, Sue Ann Hanrahan, Roger Malandra, Sister M. Carmella, Thomas Dunn, and Georgianna Glace. LATIN CLUB Discussing plans for their banquet are Gary Thaler, Laurene Logonegro, Daniel Rice, Karen Pesesky, Jane Lilley, Kathleen McCarthy, Howard Ransey, Sandra Bazyk, Sister M. Michael, and Theresa Raniewicz. FRENCH CLUB The French Club strived for cultural achievement through lectures, movies and an exchange program with the French IV students at Horseheads High School. The students discussed Le Bourgeois Gentil- homme and then gave their opinions on the value of a French IV course. The members visited the language lab at Elmira College and Miss Main from the college explained her courses at the col- lege as a French maior. Waiting for a film to begin are French Club members Mary Ann Rich, Janine Mauche Ikneelingt. Sister Maureen, and Constance Schaffer Iseatedl, and William Powell, James Leahy, leon Krazeuski, Kathleen Brunozzi, Robert Kelly. Two Roman films highlighted the first Latin Club meeting. In November and March the club placed their newspaper Vox Populi on sale. Latin Club members entertained with Latin carols at the Inter- Language Christmas party. Sister Maureen addressed the club on her recent trip to Rome in January. The climax of a busy year was in May when the Latin Banquet was held in the highest Roman Tradition. 92
