Guidance gives the students the opportunity to get feedback from caring people. To many this Carmel may come as a surprise because they might not realize what Guidance is all about. The Guidance Department is the Ann Landers of Notre Dame. Besides listening to student com- plaints the counselors try to resolve scheduling conflicts and assist the student in progressing aca- demically. Guidance contributes a great deal to the develop- ment of each class level. To the seniors career counseling is offered as well as S.A.T. interpreta- tions and college information. For those who choose not to continue their education vocational counsel- ing job opportunities and personal references are provided. Sister Mary Carmel Chairperson P.S.A.T. scores and encouraging an interest in fu- ture professions by having students research parti- cular careers. Sophomores too get a headstart on their vocations. The O.V.l.S. Ohio Vocational Inter- est Survey gives students an idea of the job field for which they are best suited. This test enables them to decide what courses to take for the upcoming year. The freshmen basically receive orientation to the school itself and information regarding the courses available to them. Guidance attempts to impress upon all students the importance of good study habits. The door to Guidance is always open to those who are willing to seek help. With their understanding nature, the Guidance counselors at Notre Dame can be stepping stones to the development of a very successful future.
