cut: URM SITES GRATII-'XS TIBI, DANKE, MERCI, GRACIAS One teacher with whom every student here at Notre Dame must come in contact during their first two years is Mrs. Mary Palenchar. Mrs. Palenchar Notre Dame High School. She is fluent in three lan guages and her teaching of these languages is en hanced by her vast studies and travel experiences abroad. Mrs. Palenchar offers more than just teach ing a language because she takes a personal interest in the growth and development of her students. As Father Hughes puts it Mary Panenchar has dedicated her life s blood to Notre Dame. Aside from her responsibilities as department chairperson and teacher of German and Latin she serves on both the Curriculum Committee and the Principal s Advisory Board. She is also chief advisor for all Lan- guage Honor Societies. Mrs. Palenchar, as Language Department Chair- person has been responsible for many of the lin guistic advancements in this school The Four Winds the foreign language magazine which she every year it is published The language festival which is held every other year is coordinated by Mrs Palenchar with the purpose of giving every stu dent the opportunity to become familiar with many different cultures She not only makes the European trips possible but encourages all language students and teachers to take one of these trips and exper- ience the European lifestyle. There is almost nothing Mrs. Palenchar wouldn t do to help a student advance in his language studies. She is truly 'one of the most valuable people at Notre Dame. We give you our long overdue thanks, Mrs. Palenchar, and we dedicate our 1978 Canticle to you for all of your insight, support, and love. THANK YOU, MRS. PALENCHAR 'fs ,ig vw. .Stax - ff.
