Blue and White Day On October lst at 1:38 P.M. our student body streamed into the gym for the first pep rally of the school year. No student expected what he would soon witness. The teacher-sponsored event filled the gym with laughter as members ofthe male faculty, prin- cipal included, executed a touch down stirred by the strangely attired pom-pom girls, who bowed and bayed before the howling audience. Uncle Al Verdel coached the team of teams who limped and straggled to his commanding voice. The hys- terical crowd finally calmed to the voices of co-captains Will Place and Dave Hart, who promised a victory over St. Anthony's. Notre Dame went wild with spirit on Blue and White Day. Each home- room tried to outdo the other but the arrangement of desks in the N.D. form, and streamers and bal- loons galore claimed the senior prize for l2E. 11E made a final touchdown with the judges, by using their imagina- tion to the fullest. They converted their room into a football field complete with press box and ticket office. The most spirited sophs or so 10A was named, hung soccer, foot- ball, and track shoes from the shades. The over powering frosh tied. 9B expressed its enthusiasm by singing our fight song when the judges entered, and displayed a football field on the ceiling. 9E dis- played banners and balloons. All classes worked together to make Blue and White Day one of the most spirited ever. 28 rr if: 5 ., T ii E T gn
