ATICDN Brother Nivard was raised and educated in Wisconsin. In 1931 Brother entered the Sacred Heart Postulate to begin training for re- ception into the Holy Cross Brothers. After completing his novitiate train- ing, Brother Nivard attended Notre Dame University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Sub- sequent summer school work at Notre Dame University led to a Mas- ter's degree in physics, and further post-graduate work was completed at Catholic University of America, Long Beach State College, and Im- maculate Heart College. ln the sum- mer of 1958 Brother Nivard studied at Reed College in Portland, where he was awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to study a course in modern physics as de- signed for high schools by the Physi- cal Science Study Commission. This course was introduced into the Notre Dame High School curriculum upon Brother's return from Reed College. Last summer he taught this new physics program to other high school instructors attending Immaculate Heart College. Brother Nivard was assigned to Notre Dame High School in 1951, and in his various curricular and extra-curricular positions he has im- pressed his students and fellow teachers with his congenial manner and devotion to duty. We, the students and faculty of Notre Dame High School, dedicate the 1960 yearbook to this devoted Brother of Holy Cross on the occa- sion of his completion of twenty- five years of service to youth in the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Brother Nivard through his patient explanations has led many boys to the awareness of the importance of the physical sciences. ,a- 0' E Mass was celebrated on February 2 for Brother Nivard and Brother Rembert on the occasion of their twenty-fifth anniversaries.
