IN OBSERVANCE OF: Although the Notre Dame of San Fernando Valley has barely ten years of history behind it, this year the religious institute which has been responsible for making that name known throughout the world, observes the centenary of apostolic approbation of its rules and con- stitutions. It was Pope Pius IX who in 1857 confirmed and recognized the Congregation of Holy Cross through- out the world. The men who founded the Congregation S2794 fQ 1 9 Brother Philip gives di- rections in typing class. -Father Dujarie, who conceived the idea of a group of teaching brothers under the patronage of St. joseph, and Father Moreau, who united this group to his society of auxiliary priests under the title of Holy Cross- find their place in the thoughts and loyalties of the Brothers who founded and now direct Notre Dame High School in the traditions of Holy Cross.
