What you have heard least, perhaps, is how much your faculty and I have enjoyed working with you, how much we have appreciated your cooperation and how much we shall miss you. What you have heard most is what great things your God, your church, your country, your family, and your college expect of you. Not great in the sense of spectacular, but great in the true sense of your religion lived, your ideals realized. Not only has your Catholic college education prepared you to lead a full rich life personally, but it has also imposed upon you the obligation of sharing the good things you have received. Non nobis, sed omnibus. It is your turn now to give. And the world needs so badly what you, as a true cul- tured Catholic woman, can give of truth, of beautyg of good- ness, of intelligent, unselfish service. Never minimize in your own mind the importance of the good you, as an individual can accomplish with the help of God's grace, which is never wanting to those who ask it. Never seek for the comfortable easy, but false solutions of life's problems. Rather be valiant, courageous women, meeting the challenges of life un- flinchingly, with the peace of God in your heart and a smile on your lips. May Our Lady, Notre Dame, ever be your model of virtuous and gracious living! I think you know that you can count on .my never-failing interest in YOU, and my willingness to help whenever and how- ever you may need that help. My prayers shall always follow you wherever,you are. The wishes I formulate for you are fully expressed in the Blessing of Saint Augustine: ' May our Sweet Lord Jesus give you A Heart to love Him, a will to choose Him An understanding to conceive Him A reason which may always adhere to Him And may that God of love and mercy Love you eternally Devotedly yours in Our Lady, Mother Saint Egbert Dean i I we Ao - -1
