Guides Keep Us Close to Our Lady As the hands of St. Aloysius clock point to- ward nine, 438 Notre Dame girls, loaded down with books, come from Washington, Maryland, and Virginia to begin another school day. Lo- cated on North Capitol Street beneath the white dome of the Capitol, Notre Dame Academy is one of the largest and oldest Catholic girls' high schools in the Archdiocese, having been founded in l873 at the request of the wife of General Sherman. 'The school is staffed by Sis- ters of Notre Dame ol Namur and is under the spiritual care of the Jesuit Fathers of St. Aloy- sius Parish. Three courses are offered: the col- lege preparatory course, the professional course for business or nursing, and a general course. The Academy is accredited by the Middle At- lantic States Association ol' Colleges and Sec- ondary Schools and is affiliated with the Catholic University ol' America. VERY REVEREND WILLIAM A.
