As the Spring season neared, the athletic miss stepped from the court on to the diamond. This year the C.Y.O. Girls' Softball League was made up of Notre Dame, Immaculate Conception, Mackin, and St. Anthony's, who were the defend- ing champions. Although league com- petition provided only three games, the Bluebirds practiced for them like big leaguers. The hours of practice resulted in smooth teamwork that won for N.D.A. the league championship. The decisive game was a 14-2 win over St. Anthony's. A tense moment in the game brings team mem- bers M. Taylor, M. Hoegan, M. A. Allman, R. Coates, P. Fox, S. Flaherty, J. Kruger, P. Myers, and B. Barrick to the support of a fellow player.

Coming front the bright sunlight in- to the dimness blinded the graduates for a moment, but in the eternity that elapsed while they moved up the long aisle, they recognized the proud faces ol family and friends. Each girl realized that the last chap- ter of childhood was closing. Uncer- tainty and sadness mingled with antic- ipation in her heart, and the details of the afternoon became slightly blurred. The class of '55 rose then to sing the school song together for the last time, and sttdden tears stung the eyes of some. Then the long white line was moving again down the aisle towards the sun- light, each step bringing the graduates closer to their tryst with the future. 4
