For the Student Councillors at N. D. A., the school year begins in October. I will strive for better student government, they pledge in the most formal assembly of the year, one which will influence the course of the entire scholastic year. To ful- fill this promise, at regular monthly meetings councillors discuss the intricate problems of student government and plan for more efficient methods of solving them. . . . For the attainment of high ideals, continues the pledge. Living up to the high ideals of Notre Dame, a primary duty for every member of the council, is not an easy task. Of- ficers reach this goal by con- ducting themselves in a manner deserving of respect from their fellow students. Striving for the uplift of the Association and the school, both alone and with others is a phrase from the student officers' pledge which lingers in the councillors' minds as they do their part each day to keep school affairs running smoothly. Realizing their duty to their classmates as well as to the school, councillors heed the words . . . I will obey and re- spect the laws and do my best to incite a like obedience and respect in my fellow students. Near the end of their pledge, the newly-elected councillors promise that they will al- ways . . . strive to quicken the sense of responsibility among the students at large . . . so that they may appreciate the high ideals of their school. f f I .Xn array of badges is displayed by underclassmen councillors: 76 first Tow, left I0 right, R.
