Mrs. Barbara Barnoski is the Chairperson of the English Depart- ment. This year, she taught AP Eng- lish and Speech. She is also the moderator of L'Esprit, the school lit- erary magazine. Her philosophy of education is that learning should be a facinating and satisfying activity. Mrs. Barnoski says that she has learned from her students that the world is filled with unique and fasci- nating people. When Mrs. Barnoski is not teaching, she enjoys playing tennis and relazing with her family. Sister Anna Maria is new to the NDA faculty. Besides being the ac- countant for the school, Sister teach- es Typing I, Typing II and Short- hand I. Sister likes to play volleyball and tennis, and enjoys listening to music. Her philosophy of education is simply stated: I believe that the purpose of education is the develop- ment of the entire student, to help her discover sound values so that she can meet the challenges of society? The school secretary and registrar who always has a smile for student, teacher, visitor or mailman is Mrs. Mary Athan. In her spare time, she enjoys interior decorating, collecting recipes, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Athan is a member of the Charismatic Renewal at Loyola- Marymount. In commenting on life at NDA, Mrs. Athan stated Every September I've felt genuinely happy about returning to Notre Dame and this is my seventh year. Mrs. Walsh states that she is very impressed by the number of ac- tivities available to the student, and the spirit and camaraderie of the girls. Miss Nancy McDonough, a 1968 graduate of Notre Dame Academy, has found much happiness in teach- ing art at her alma mater. In Sister Mary Ste. Therese 's spare time, Sister enjoys researching early southern California history and moderating the Drama Club. wfi X Mrs. Vilija Karalius Miss Genevieve Winslow Miss Mary Anges Jones fshown to the leftj is a very special teacher at Notre Dame. Miss Jones provides Voice lessons three times a week for students who wish to train their voices for possible professional work. Mrs. Vi1Ua Karalius is the varsity and junior varsity volleyball coach, and this year, Mrs. Karalius taught Physical education, Health, and Dri- vers' Education. When she is not busy teaching or assisting the G.A.A. in planning activities, Mrs. Karalius enjoys painting and playing the guitar. When asked what she has learned from her students, Mrs. Kar- alius answered-how to stay young when yourire old. One teacher who has seen many students come to Notre Dame and then graduate is Miss Genevieve Winslow.
