km.. Mrs. Antoinette Newman man- ages N.D.'s library, and teaches stu- dents to become library assistants. When not working, Mrs. Newman enjoys gourmet cooking and sewing. Mrs. Newman believes that a high school library should furnish the ma- terials needed by the students for their academic development and cul- tural enrichment. In addition to teaching at Notre Dame, Mrs, Elaine Des Roches cares for her four children. Her teaching schedule includes Biology, Human Anatomy and Algebra Ig she is also active in scripture study, a prayer group, CCD, her church choir, and is an affiliate member ofthe Sisters of it 'it on Mrs. Antoinette Newman Mrs. Elaine Des Roches Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mrs. Des Roches has found Notre Dame to be a marvelous school and, a pleasure to work in. Mr, Luis Velasquez is very impor- tant, for he is needed everyday to attend to the thousand-and-one odd jobs that need to be done. He can often be seen with ladder or hammer or light bulb in hand. In her spare time she cooks land eatsj Foreign food and does ceramics and needlepoint. Ms. Horwinski has this to say about N.D.: l'm very happy here. l like the faculty, admire the students, and particiularly enjoy being part of a moral as well as an academic atmosphere. A very special person at Notre Dame Academy is Mrs. Barbara Roth, who teaches two periods of senior English. Sister Mary Lauretta taught Biol- ogy, Physiology and Algebra l dur- ing the first semester. A special pro- ject of hers was sponsoring the Mis- sion Clubg with great joy, she an- nounced that the students had donat- ed 52,000 by the end ofthe first se- mester. Sister's other hobbies in- clude playing Aggravation and doing needlework. Creativity is part of Sister Mary Selma 'slife. tSister is pictured to the right.J ln addition to preparing food for the students in the cafeteria, and the sisters in the convent, Sister likes to spend time experimenting with new recipes and entering con- tests.
