MARY ELIZABETH DAVIES President ,IANE LEAHEY Vice President DORIS ANIDERSON freasurer General ,Aflzleflf ,4 5'5l7L'lllfll7l1 NIAUREEN DONAHUE Secretary Under the able supervision of Miss Helen Duffy director and Mother Saint Vivienne moderator the GAA entitles the students to many athletic and social advantages Inter class competition in ping pong basketball soft ball and volleyball is stimulated by the effective point system which awards a silver cup to the class with the most points for athletic endeavors. The first event of the year was the Autumn Whirl . The proceeds of this dance will be used for the building of the nevv tennis court. Seniors from St. Francis Prep Seton Hall Prep and the Augustinian Academy as well as several from Villanova and St. Peter's Colleges were invited. XVith their wonderful cooperation and our schoolmates support the dance was a complete success. Besides being the first social event of the year it was the first dance ever given in our school. The outstanding feature of the G.A.A. is the Varsity captained by Beth Davies. XA e are especially proud of the good sportsmanship of the team in accepting defeat as well as victory. Our six cheerleaders vurc alvi ays on hand to lead our cheering squad to spur the Varsity on to their victories and to help soften the blow of their defeats. Little Miss Notre Dame Justine Moran became a regular cheer- leader. She helped boost the morale of the team and certainly was a credit to the cheering squad. The last event on the C,.A.A. calendar was Field Day. Athletic letters out awarded to all students who earned them. The point system offers the opportunity of winning a letter not only to Varsity players but to all those who have been of assistance in G.A.A. activities. The 'W eenie Roast and tht spirited singing of school songs made this day an unforgettable one. The C.A.A. has contributed greatly toward character building. Require- ments such as perfect uniforms, silence in the halls and other regulations have developed the sense of fair play in all the members. This association has encouraged a sense of responsibility, the value of cooperation and team- work and, most of all, a respect for other girls, even when they are opposed to us. First and foremost, the G.A.A. has shown us how to be great losers, as well as Sportsman-like winners. ELIZABETH CARROLL Athletic Manager
