RECCJG ITION MRS. ROCQUE DOMINICK We considered dedicating our yearbook to the individual. The seniors favored Mrs. Janet Dominick, However, those who wished the yearbook to be dedicated to the individual are not disappointed. For who is more an individual than our Janet? It is a privilege to be Mrs. Dominick's friend because by BEING her friend one HAS a friend. Who but Mrs. Dominick never tires of enthusiastically saying hello to her students? Who wants to help her students and considers them before herself more than she? Who bears her students' burdens, shares their secrets, and keeps their friendship better than she? Mrs. Dominick, the senior English teacher, is also the advisor of the STUDENT PRINTS. She does much more than advise. When no one can possibly think of a headline for a story, she does. When there is no one to type a story which is overdue, Mrs. Dominick does it. Mrs. Dominick teaches her students how to live, learn, and how to be kind. One cannot say that Mrs. Dominick demands nothing in return. She is a perfectionist who demands much from her students. She asks for hard work, attention. and improvement. Our days with Mrs. Dominick are over. Our memories will remain.

MEMCRIAM DR. MARTIN BRANDT Martin Brandt was born November 1, 1893, in Posan, Poland, where he spent his earlier years and where he graduated from Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium. He studied at the Universities of Breslau and Berlin, receiving his doctor's degree from the University ofBres1au. where he graduated magna cum laude. He interned at Hygienisches Institute of the University of Breslau and later at Childi-en's Hospital in Berlin. He began private practice in Berlin-Spandau, Germany. In 1938, after Hitlex-'s rise to power, Dr. Brandt emigrated to the U,S., where he took and passed his Medical State Board Examination. About eighteen years ago Dr. Brandt came to the North Country, establishing practice in Bombay, where he remained for eight years. During the ten years the Brandts were in Norfolk, Dr. Brandt had been extremely active in the Red Cross Blood Program. He was always civic-minded, as he worked in close cooperation with school officials and with the late Dr, J' ames Smith in promoting preventive clinics, mass innoculations, et cetera, He had served with the late Dr. Smith as NNCS physician and assumed full responsibility after Dr. Smith's death. Kind, gentle, retiring, unassuming, patient -- all these adjectives could be applied to Dr. Brandt. But he will probably be best remembered for that characteristic usually attributed to doctors of an earlier era -- a lively, constant, personal interest in all his patients. Dr. Brandt will be missed by his patients, his friends, and the many. many students of NNCS,
