After graduating from Potsdam State Teachers College, Mrs. Dullea started her teaching career in 1923. She taught on Long Island for several years and then devoted her time to raising a family of two daughters. After her children entered school she again began teaching in the Potsdam area and spent ten years teaching in rural schools. In 1945 she began teaching in the primary area in Norwood. After five years of successful teaching she was chosen to be the first Elementary Supervisor in the newly-formed Norwood-Norfolk Central School System. In this position shehas become well-known and highly respected by both pupils and teachers, Many of us know her as a teacher and supervisor vitally interested in the education of the children in our schools. She is close to those people with whom she works and is ever alert to improved methods and higher standards of achievement. We recognize Mrs, Dullea as a dynamic force in gaining for the elementary area a high rating of achievement, and we hope that she remains with us for many years to come. In Memoriam ' N I f EJ I ! I 1 t iiwim I We were all shocked to hear ofthe auto accident that occurred on May 21, 1960, which caused the tragic death of Judy. She was a former student at NlX1CS and is remembered by all as being a sincere person. K Judy, daughter of Myron and Rita Mellon of Norwood. was killed instantly when the car in which she was a passenger collided with an oncoming vehicle. She was an eager participant in school activities fand was well thought of by all her class- mates. In years to come, when we think of NNCS, Judy will be foremost incur thoughts and recol- lections. i TABLE or CONTENTS Pomzwono A 1 IIIIIIIIII III!III, PXECOGNITICDN IIIIIIINISIIIATIOINI SENIOIIS CI.ASS ES ACTIVITIES ATHLETICS I IVIUSIQ W DVEPITISERS 7' 5-- -1 - 2 ' Mn- K 'X , if My W, W M w A1 b6Jjc! j' . 63yD5i1EQ'fj,'lLLx,Q fa ,Il,A 1 w Lgvgw YV U .M ' 'lic' lv 'A 1 '33 QSM wb OV VN Ek yy N09 1032 Qu KC gs sf ,www M zqafasaassfw TQSEEZESB Ewwifll yi F 3 Y ST IKITII ITA!!!-If SHO!!! 4 sal: gf Cwrf-611391 Dwcivf' suis! . . -1- HW wg . Beecher ix gf' I I I 1 SQ oi-Q4 2 t i WW 9 te v 'fl O Cflkrllon 44 Q '51- xi I wish you well in your future endeavors, hoping that each of you will always think for himself before making any decision. In other words, never be mob-led. For those few who don't count their blessings as far as this school is concerned, may I compare the school of 1943 with that of 1961. That the one of 1943 was a GOOD one there can be no doubt, That the one of 1961 is an EXCELLENT one is equally clear, In 1943, as far as sports are concerned, there were cheerleaders and baseball, basketball, and soccer teams. In the same year there were hobby, craft, dramatic, and camera clubs, a vocal group of nine, a chorus, and a band. In 1961, you people have baseball, basketball, cross-country, touch football, cheerleaders, ice hockey, bowling, and volleyball. You also have Symphonic Choir, Girls' Glee Club, Senior and Junior Band, Bel-Aires, Starlites, Knights of Rhythm, F.T,A,, NationalHonor Society, Keystoner, Student Prints, Student Council, F.B.L.A., and Debate, Science, Library, Pep, ski, radio, medical and camera clubs. Also there are Majorettes, and Senior Homemakers. In 1961 you have the various educational activities and departments which did not exist here in 19435. a Business Education Department with many commercial machines second to none in Northern New York, Drivers' Training, Homemaking, an Art Department, far better laboratories, a Dental Hygienist, a Guidance Director, a Health Department, an extensive library, an excellent gymnasium, curriculum coordinators, a speech teacher and therapist, a cafeteria, and a psychologist, Thus you see that everything is here to help make you better people. I hope you have taken advantage of all of this, for it is you who, in the future as voting citizens, will decide whether Norwood-Norfolk Junior High School can become a SUPERIOR one. Henry Vinicor, M.D. President of School Board Board of Educatlon SEATED, Left to Right: Dr, Donald Bixby, Dr. Henry Vinicor, President Blanche Palmer, Clerk STAND ING: Mr. John Lynch, Mr, Kenyon Jones, Mr. Howard Hall Mr Mark Jenner MISSING Mrs Shirley Orologio, Mr, Russell Colbert, Mr. William Salisbury. My congratulations to the class of 1961 upon the com- pletion of your high school program. Your class has had an opportunity to participate in the challenging new programs offered this year at the college of Education at Potsdam in English, at Clarkson in mathematics and in the Vocational Industrial Cooperative program in this school. May you always be a member of a group that is par- ticipating in a program for the betterment of all. F, W. Kelly, Vice-Principal It is healthy for any people, and particularly for you graduates, to consider the goals that you will seek. However, thisl is not enough, for you must consider how you will attain these goals. I believe that the most important road you can follow to achieve your goals is the road to education, It is not a road of the past, but a road of the future that we must follow, We are faced with fresh problems, expanding technology, new social and economic situations, and exploding political forces throughout the world. lgnorant people cannot hope to cope with the world of the lsixties, Even the best educated will face problems of such magnitude and complexity that they will be challenged to the utmost, Geography, military might, economic superiority, or political power by themselves cannot save us or even provide reasonable security. As never before in history, man must depend on his intellectual and spiritual strength. I congratulate you upon the completion of your high school education. May you always choose the best roads and the most worthwhile goals as you continue your education. t wma' k , ' is . ag-,N A+ ,f i ,Q W w e 1439 52' gift . fw- MQ :.i W 152. wg 1 ,EM xr 5 if A-14 W, as-Q 2 as 1 .S Bahvgwwr 'rf 'fin ,Kiwi , nf Q Q Yer: R ' Ae J -: qw?
