Virginia Denison Droms was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, Schenectady, and earned her B. S. Degree from Albany State Teachers College. Following graduation, she served for two years as an administrator for the World Council of Churches in Germany and ltaly. Upon her return to the United States, she earned her Master's Degree in Education at Albany State Teachers College and in January, l953, came to Norwood, where for 572 years she taught in our Business Education De- partment. At the time of her death, she was attending the summer session at the University of Indiana, at Bloomington, indiana, where she was completing requirements for her Doctor's Degree. We pay tribute to her memory For For For For For For For For For For For For her sincere and unceasing dedication to public school business education, her constant advocation of quality in instruction, her more than five years of able and faithful service in this system as a teacher and a supporter of all school activities and community affairs, her numerous and valuable innovations in the business education department, her contribution in the fields of guidance and curriculum development, her credit to the teaching profession as a woman of character, integrity, vision, deep human warmth, and genuineness, her influence for good on the lives of the many students and teachers as well, her personal sincerity and devotion to her position which endeared her to all who knew her, her thoughtful, unselfish, tireless effort to help others, per- sonally and professionally, her worm, friendly, jovial personality which reached and affected all who knew her, her faith in the future of her students and her enduring influence on their future welfare, her tremendous drive which put above her own physical welfare the desire to make our, business education course inferior to none. After losing a very much disputed sudden death overtime game to Alexandria Bay in the Lake Placid Tournament, the Norwood-Norfolk Sextet captured both the League Crown and the Clarkson Tournament Trophy. Norwood permanently retained the Clarkson Tournament Trophy, having won it 3 times. The Flying N's piled up an overall lO-6 League Record. After losing the first league game to Salmon River 6-4, the Nor- wood-Norfolk Sextet then won its remaining league games. Alex Bay beat Salmon River, and we had a 3-way first place tie. The playoff was at Clarkson Arena with NNCS victorious. The Norwood-Norfolk Sextet of next season will sorely miss Red Bresee, Vince Regan, Frank Vinicor, Richard Besaw and Gerald Chilton. The promising Pee Wee Hockey Team hopes to produce ample replacements for these stars. Lloyd Bresee was selected as one of the players on the second All-League Team. Next year's team promises to be a real North Country Hockey power. if 7? NX N.. TY., ls f' ff M 9.2 3 f'--'W .ZW it .Mawr A --A W . V .wwf ' -fare.: 'H' f5SfE'V f ner!
