IN RECOGNITION MISS MERCEDES SULLIV'AN We, the Seniors of Norwood-Norfolk Central School, are happy to recognize in the year of our commencement-Miss Mercedes Sullivan. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, Miss Sullivan ioined the faculty of Norfolk High School as a teacher of English in September, 1947. Many of us did not know her until we moved into the present Junior-Senior High School in 1953. Suffice it to say that, even though we did not have her immediately as an instructor in the in- trjicacies of English grammar, literature, book re- pbrts, and so forth, we were keenly aware of her plesence as a petite person with a strong per- sonality. I She is, foremost, a strict disciplinarian, yet she m nages to assuage our dented feelings with that gli t of humor which is forever lurking in the back ofl er snapping black eyes.
