Engineer MR. RICHARD W. HANN SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL Seniors of 1955, the day that you have looked forward to has arrived. You must now make a decision of great importance to yourself. You must decide whether it will be further education or train- ing at some institution, or the armed services, or you will enter directly into some field of employment. Remember that whichever of these things you do, how well they are done, or how satisfying they are to you depends entirely upon yourself. Congratulations to all of you. FRANCIS W. KELLY It is encouraging to find the ever increas- ing number of our students who are com- pleting their high school education. We see also a greater number of high school grad- uates continuing their education in institu- tions of higher learning. This years's graduates have achieved also another first, that of earning more scholarship aid than any other previous group. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate those students who have earned scholarships. l wish to extend my congratulations to the entire graduation class upon the successful completion of your high school career. . so -R.,W. If you had attended this round-up, you would have seen these girls doing the more difficult stunts on the gymnastic appa- ratuses. The first of these is the Northern League Championship trophy, which is given to the team in the Northern League that wins the most games. The second trophy is the league play-off trophy, which is given to the team that wins the play-offs. The four top teams participate in the play-offs each year, the top team competing with the fourth place team, and the second place team competing with the third place team. The winners of these two games play, and whoever is the final winner of this game gets this trophy. The Varsity baseball team had a fine record last year. The team had a record of 9 wins and 1 loss in regular league games, and they held first place all through the season. In the playoffs they beat Malone and O. F. A. to win the Section 10 championship. 52 BASEBALL TROPHIES Won by: Norwood-Norfolk Central School Base- ball Team. Left: Northern League Baseball Championship, 1954. Starting the hockey season with a team badly crippled by the loss' of last year's stars: Spencer, Lynch, and Bernard LaBarge,+our hockey team compiled an enviable record. The superb goal tending of Don Chapin, and the hard work of the youngsters on the squad, together with the excellent hockey know how of the remaining LaBarge brothers finally brought us to a second place tie with Saranac Lake, in League play, and a semi-final close decision to Canton in the Clarkson t-ournament. 'During the League season we suffered defeaat only at the hands of Massena and Saranac Lake, but were forced to call a draw against both Canton and Potsdam. Although losing to Saranac Lake and New Rochelle, and taking a consolation win, only, from Ossining, the Lake Placid 'tournament still continued to be a major high-light of the season. In the Clarkson tournament, Canton succeeded, during the last minute and- 42 seconds, in scoring two quick goals' to spoil our 1-0 lead, and eliminate us from that tournament. In post-season compilations, however, Norwood-Norfolk still asserts its hockey prowess, in having Don Chapin selected as best league goalie, and both Dale and Don LaBarge selected as defenseman and center, respectively, for the second all-league team. 4 55 Night Special VARSITY BASKETBALL Left to Right: Kneeling: Jack Hunter, F, Patrick Walsh, Ronald Bosjolie, James Myers, Lary Gibson Ernest Farmer, Richard Harvey.
