The Academic Decathlon was a group of Juniors and Seniors who met once a week to study a variety of topics in preparation for competition. The topics the students studied ranged from Physics and Math to Art, Literature and Music. In addition the students studied Aviation in preparation for the Super Quiz. The Competition was held in November. Students took multiple choice tests on all the areas they had studied. Their scores were added together for a team score. The Super Quiz was held in the gym that afternoon. The students were under a time limit to give their responses. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded to individuals and teams who ranked highest both overall and in each subject area. Olga Garcia-Ray received the Bronze medal for Literature. The team is open to juniors and seniors who range academically from A to C work. This provides the opportunity for all types of students to compete in a challenging but fun environment. 123 STUDENT COUNCIL M ■I Michelle Decareau, Sarah Ciormley, Kristin Crowley, Margaret Maher, Brian Maloney, Nancy Pelrocelli, l.auri Upton, Kale Billiard, Anne- Marie Downs. MUSTANGS HOLD THEIR OW This year the football team is on its way back up the standings with a 4-5-1 record. The record didn ' t really show the capability of the team, losing by only points to such powerhouses as Natick, Dedham, and Needham, and out-of-league contestant Lexington. At the banquet Coach Giardi presented the awards. Jamie Weber and Brian Quinn were presented the top defensive player and top offensive line award, respectively. Paul Topping received the Coaches ' Award and Dan Needham the Dale P. Eckholm Award. The team would like to thank all the coaches, cheerleaders, the band, and all the spectators who cheered us on. BASKETBALL CHEERLEADERS We started out the season rough, but through many hours of practice we pulled together as a team, in hope to capture the Baystate Title. Cheerleading camp gave us a chance to get to know each other as people, not just as fellow cheerleaders. Because of the fact that we came together as a squad we were able to go to the finals at camp, and also qualify to attend a National Competition in Tennessee. Starting off the season with a new coach was difficult for everyone, but thanks to Lynne Costello ' s time, support and dedication we made it a great season. On behalf of all the seniors we would like to wish the rest of the team good luck next year, and our thanks to Lynne Costello, Donna Brown and all of Norwood High School for their support. • 190 . . . Young families, for ex- ample, have a great need for borrow- ing. Income is usually reduced as a par- ent leaves the labor force. Yet expenses are increased due to an extra mouth to feed. We can help with a variety of low- cost loans. On the other hand, retired couples have little need for loans. They are con- cerned about safe, profitable invest- ments. Investments that increase their retirement income. We can help with fully-insured term accounts that guaran- tee interest payments. Whatever your age, whatever your needs, we ' ll help you your whole life through. From buying your first car to providing a tax-sheltered retirement fund, you can expect a helping hand from us. To find out more, call or visit our office soon. Equal Opportunity Lender We ' ll help you your whole life through.
