DR. JOHN MONBOUQUETTE Mr. Piccirilli, the present principal of Norwood High, has led us through our most important year as seniors. To Mr. Pic- cirilli we say thanks for your kindness and understanding. We hope that these characteristics will continue throughout your career. May you have much success in the years to come. DEDICATION We, the members of the Tiot staff and the class of 1 977, take pride in dedicating this issue of the Tiot to former Principal John Monbouquette and newly-named Principal John Piccirilli. Dr. Monbouquette was the principal of Norwood High from Sep- tember of 1964 to February of 1976. As sophomores and juniors we were guided by his leadership. INMEMORIAM William Jones (1959-1975) The Class of 1 977 will always remember William Jones, who would have graduated this year. Billy took full advantage of his short time on the earth. He is remembered as a carefree, open person. He was a superb boxer and enjoyed playing basketball. In school his favorite subjects were social studies and industrial arts. Billy will always be remembered by many of his friends. The Class of 1 977 also wishes to remember Carmen Bretti, Kelly Parsons, and William Pezwick. 18

The yearbook at Norwood High has been called TIOT for many years, yet many students do not know the origin of this name. TIOT dates back to the time when the Neponsets, a division of the Algonquin tribe, ruled the region. When the Neponsets arrived, they found Norwood bounded by many bodies of water including, as they are called today, the Neponset River, Purgatory Brook, Planting Field Brook, Germany Brook, and Hawes Brook. The Indian word TIOT means enclosures of water, a term which describes the area of Norwood. 20
