% unction as WlicUte Wen JUNIOR YEAR In September of our second year at High School, our confidence and assurance had increased and we were no longer so un- certain or so spell-bound by the haughty seniors. Our class officers during the year 1952-53 were: John Doyle, preside nt; Marlene Johnston, vice-president; Irene Falconer, secretary; Georgia Georges and Rocco Pen- nachio, treasurers; Porta Sideropoulos and Paul Eckhardt, A.A. representatives. As the year progressed we became aware of the athletic capabilities of several of our classmates. Players like John Doyle, Paul Eckhardt and Patrick Lydon gave us high hopes for a senior year of outstanding athletic accomplishments. However, all our attainments were not athletic, for our Junior Prom, with its colorful Mardi Gras theme, was one of the gayest and loveliest ever held at Norwood High. Three outstanding Junior boys, Donald McComb, John Schuller and Gerald Pike, admirably represented Norwood at Boys ' State, and we were proud to send Elizabeth Dunn as our delegate to Girls ' State. John Doyle won the Harvard Book Award. The latter part of our Junior Year was spent in making preparations for our Sen- ior year. We elected Marlene Johnston and Richard Saunders editors-in-chief of the Tiot, and we chose a bevy of attractive and vivacious girls as our cheerleaders, and we formed our traffic squad. As June of 1953 drew nigh, we reviewed with pride and pleasure our two years on the Hill, and impatiently awaited what we were sure would be the best year of all. CLASS OF ' 54 OFFICERS AS JUNIORS Standing: Georges, Eckhardt. Seated: Sideropoulos, Falconer, Pennachio, Doyle. Not pictured: M. Johnston. [21]
