OFFICERS AS JUNIORS Rear Row: Alty, Lynch, Lane, Babinski Rear: Mahony, Hardy HisTORy - jumofi ytaR Braves September, 1949 . . . With nonchalance and a studied ennui we returned to the hill, eager withal to meet our friends again. With sardonic smiles we watched the new Sophomores being misdirected even as we had been, and we rejoiced in their bewilderment. Soon we settled into the groove of school life with the ease born of assurance. We cheered for the Senior stars, Mai, Joe McCue, Dick Jordano and our own Billy Lynch, Pete Flood, Minky , Bibsie, Bartucca and Travers. We ' ll never forget Eddie Hynes ' 102-yard dash for a touchdown in North Quincy. With what zest we perused the football programs to see who made the headlines! We re-elected Billy Lynch ,to lead our class, with Stan Babinski as vice-president; Betty Mahony, secretary; Charlotte Hardy and Amos Groh, comptrollers; Helen Alty and Pete Lane, A. A. Members. Our classmates SameskL Maduskuieand Cushman starred in basketball, and Don Glaser and Willie Wall scintil- lated on the ice. The celestial atmosphere which we created for our Stardust Junior Party made this a memorable soiree in high school history. At assembly Madman caused the sensation of the year with his grand salaam and Amos had to pay his debt. Betty Mahony and Leonard White were chosen chief-editors of the Yearbook. We proudly played host on Class Day as we wished our brethren Godspeed. Another year had melted away. {18 }

SENIOR OFFICERS Estey, Glaser, Abel, Bartucca, Alty, Lynch, Cushman SeilOR HISTORy Mugwumps September, 1950 . . . Oh, fateful year! Back we came again with swagger and boast to take over as head men. Frank Bartucca was made head chieftain; Billy Lynch, his stand-in; Jane Ellen Estey, scribe; Marion Abel and Dan Cushman, wampum collectors; Helen Alty and Don Glaser, mem- bers of the A. A. Council. As new traffic officers we ruled the roost. We even had gun-men on the squad - page Bibsie and Jackie Folan! Incidently their water pistols are resting in the office unless Mr. O ' Donnell ' s wastebasket has got them. Our football team, under co-captains Minky and Pete showed good ability and fine spirit. They made quite a comeback from ' 50 ' s record. The whole school turned out to cheer them on and the colorful, lively help of the senior cheerleaders, Helen Alty, Marion Abel, Shirley Bowles, Pat Redihan, Charlotte Hardy, Jane Ellen Estey and junior Milda Elias inspired them to greater efforts. Those weeks when everyone looked so sharp for the class pictures caused more than one of us to stop and take another look at some of our colleagues. Sue Atkins starred in an unforgettable performance in, A Date with Judy, ably supported by such accomplished Thespians as Jackie Folan, Esther Boone, Elaine Falls, Tom Bowler, Lorraine Tulis and others. In January the high school gym was turned into royal headquarters as Madman Hinds and Pat Redihan became the royalties of 1951. As a terpsichorean artist Madman is less agile than in bowing to the ground. Throughout the year the Tiot staff labored in a mad scramble to produce the best yearbook ever. The Tiot room was always a turmoil of activity. What catastrophies we endured! But neither rain nor snow nor even Red Bailey stopped us for long. Norwood ' s 1951 season was an excellent one in basket- 420 }
