So it was with Nomood High School and Al Geselbracht. His high regard for family has been evident in both his personal iife and his professional life. At home he is a devoted father and husband. At school he worked for unity among staff and among students. His concern for his school family often extended beyond their work at schooi to whatever joys and sorrows they felt in their lives. From his salad days he had the respect of both teachers and students. As he experienced NHS he grew as an administrator. As he grew, the staff and program developed under his leadership. He was the reason that a philosophy of education and a program of education that were to culminate in the new high school began to emerge in 1968. In this effort he played the role of a master teacher ias every compe- tent administrator shouidi and motivated others to see and to work to adopt new ideas for improved high school education. Although he has retired, he has left a legacy to those who follow. He has left a spirit of unity and a program of quality education on which the future of NHS rests. HECHHEF O :H m A , H J; :imiltiiim' 'ial wrtinuummtnmm The education of the students at Nor- wood has depended on many factors, but the most important one has been the fac- ulty members. Because of their wide- spread knowledge in different fields, we have been given a variety of choices for the varied interests of the student body. The facuity light our minds with new and better ideas. The courses they have pro- vided help us to decide what field to pur- sue in the future. The help provided by the faculty has not been strictly academic. They have taught us from their many experiences and have tried to make times at Norwood more enlightening for the students; Members of the faculty have aiso become our friends. We have shared smiles and laughter with them just as we have with Other students. 80 when we remember high school and the way we were. then we will remember the faculty and how much they helped us. However, edu- cation was the reason for being here and for spending so much time in thisschool. We have been provided with various courses to advance our knowledge in so many different areas. Now that we have had time to look back on the years we have spent learning, we have found our- selves asking if it was ail so simple then or was it just time that has made it seem that way. Though we teave here and go our separate ways, other minds wil! come t to experience what we will remember forever. 48 TOP LEFT: Mrs Porr instructs her students in the basic fundamentals of swimming. We try to forget the many lost games, but always look forward to future victories. But after remembering these things, we ask ourselves whether we would do it all again if we had the chance. Would we go through the grueling practices, or would we attend the events to give our support? Not only did they have to ad- just to the senior high school, but they had to work toward making their follow- ing years successful ones. In order to raise money for their junior year, the sophomores sold allepurpose cleaner. The sophomores worked hard and look- ing back wondered if it was all worth- while. From the events during sophomore year there were both painful and beautiful memories, but gazing at the scattered pictures of these times behind us, we will remember the way things were and be glad we were involved. Clubs provided students with a variety of activities from which to choose. This vari- ety attempted to satisfy each individual's interests and talents. These activities P were not only for educational purposes but aiso for enjoyment, Through involve- ment in clubs students established new relationships with other students, gained new values and ideals, learned the meane ing of fellowship, leadership, and services for themselves w personal satisfaction, seif-confidence, and integrity. By participating in activities, students grew in poise and sociai consciousness through association with others. When we remembered the smiles and laughter, we asked ourselves if we would do it again if we had the chance. We remem- bered the way we were. Besides being a means of ad- vertising for the businesses, it also helps the students learn the art of confronting business men and women. We ask that the residents of Norwood patronize these businesses so that they will find their Ad purchases worthwhile and will continue to support our annual. We, as the 1977 Silhouette Staff. would ' 7. like to thank all of you who helped to L ' make our yearbook possible so that you may remember us the way we were. Please Patronize OUR ADVERTISERS Tell them you saw their ad in the yearbook. The yearbook staff presents to the student body the 1977 SiLHOUETTE. Through working together this year, we managed to overcome the trials and tribulations of putting a yearbook to- gether and hopefully this work was not in vain. In these pages we have tried to cap- ture the many different events that take place in the course of the school year and ail those involved. We have concen- trated our efforts to provide a complete '5: : 7: '1 book of this years events. Though we realize we cannot satisfy everyone, we hope that this SILHOU- ETTE meets the expectations of the stu- dent body and especially the seniors. We, as editors, hope that we have suc- cessfully filled these pages with memor- able moments so that when we look through these pages we will be abie to remember the way we were. Brenda, Lisa, and Mary Lou
