This season has been a very enjoyable one for me. I have enjoyed every minute of it. The boys had a fighting spirit all the way. They took defeat as a defeat should be taken, they enjoyed the victories as true sports, they were as loyal and cooperative as anyone could be. The football team also received new football pads and pants. At the close of the term last year all the senior boys received a gold football charm for their a- chievements in athletics. Each year the senior boys will be given these charms for their athletic achieve- ments. The members of pep club elected Gene Burkett as Athletic King and Karlene Smith as Athletic 1, Queen. We took in 5109. As a project for this year, we sent Christmas gift boxes to the boys from Norwich who were overseas. Wichita, Kansas extends congratulations the Class of 1952 t Junior Senior Banquet For I95l A nautical theme, Under the Sea, was chosen by the juniors for the banquet given in honor of the senior class on Friday evening, April 27, in the high school gym. The room was completely enclosed with streamers of green and blue crepe paper, representing the sea water with many varieties of fish, sea horses, and tropical fish, all in different colors, attached to the streamers. Coral reefs were placed about the room on which fish and other undersea animals lay and small ships were grounded. Small china fish in the form of nut cups were used as favors. The guests were seated at quartet tables which were lighted by candles. Members of the sophomore class served as waiters. The girls wearing white dresses with blue aprons and the boys wearing dark trousers, white shirts, and black bow ties. Athletic Banquet For I95I The annual athletic banquet was held in the Methodist church Friday evening, April 6, 1951. The dining room was beautifully decorated in red and white, the schoolcolors. Mini- ature basketball courts and football fields were used as centerpieces for the tables. Pro- grams were in the form of basketballs and footballs. The menu consisted of fruit juice, baked ham, scalloped potatoes, buttered carrots, salad, angel food cake with ice cream and coffee. Immediately following the dinner there was group singing and the crowning of the ath- letic King, Jack Pomeroy, and the Athletic Queen, Pauline Morales, who were seated on a white satin throne illuminated by tapers which were lighted by Joan Hyatt and Velrna Russell. Crownbearers were .Toni Urhen and Frankie Fieser. The attendants were Josephine Taylor and Paul Berry, Barbara Vavra and Frosty Roberts. The theme of the program was Past, Present and Future and was as follows: ln- vocation, Rev. Dieterichg Toast Mistress, Karlene Smith, Welcome, Pauline Moralesg Re- sponse, Marvin I-lollandg vocal solo, Dale Fieser, Present, Prof. Freemang Future, Coach Burnett: and ln the Garden of Tomorrow, girls' sextet. Mr. Craven, athletic coach ofFriends University, was the guest speaker for the evening. He gave an interesting and entertaining talk. ' Following the banquet, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. I-Iuitt were hosts to the students at a dance in their building. It was enjoyed and appreciated by all.
