Not only did they win the South Shore League with an I I-0 record, but went on to team victories in the So. Shore Principals Meet. Eastern Mass Class D. and, the ultimate accomplishment, the 1984 All-State. All-Class Championship. QGILL The Norwell Boys' Spring Track Team under the leadership of John Osgood and David Mason enjoyed a successful year. just missing the league championship with a heartbreaking loss to East Bridgewater. Individual successes were enjoyed by Rich Finnegan, who dominat- ed the All-League Meet with victories in the 100, long jump and anchoring the vic- Q torious 4x100. Mark Travis placed 4th in ' - the 100m. hurdles and Dave Cogliano placed 6th in the 400. Goalie Tracey Augustine had an excellent season with 250 saves and was selected to the South Shore League All Star team along with Senior captain Nancy Connolly. Practicing outside. competing in Boston. and consisting of both boys and girls. it does not quite fit the usual mold. Competing in the predominantly-boys Tri-Count y League. the team compiled a record of 3-5. the best ever posted by Norwell. Led by Captains Ken Murphy. Rich Finnegan. Carla Mason. and Suzanne Mahoney. the team also excelled in post-season meets, with both the boys and girls finishing fifth overall in the State Relay Meet. LQ gl- Why do we run?
