The team, lead by co-captains Pam O'Reilly and Duxbury Chrissy Smith, went on to capture the All-League Championship and Middleboro to place fifth in the class C state meet. Strong performances were Cohassett recorded by jessica Bahros in the mile. Toni Raebel, who broke the Hull school record in the 100 yard dash with a time of 11.5 seconds and the Holbrook 4x110 relay team, composed of Toni Raebel, Kathy Merritt, Terri E. Bridgewater Travis and Nancy Pettine, who together set a state record of 50.7 Hanover seconds. Diane McKinnon also broke the school record in the discus with a throw of 95'11 . The Clippers main objective next year will be to take the S.S.L. crown outright. With a strong nucleus in the senior class and plenty of good talent coming up to fill the vacant places left by graduation, the team has a very good chance of achieving that goal. y r ir . 1 g FiY:rfYT1.x 5' w . f gn' ft NL 1 AR -' .'- vftill, 5,6 : . . 4 -U' ' -165 Jf r J. The Girl's Varsity Basketball Team played hard all season but the lack of experienced players kept them from having more wins. Fine performances were turned in by senior co- captains Amy Dempsey, who has been on the team since she was a Freshman, and jane Mackin, the teams leading re- bounder. Senior support was also given byjoanne Nagle, Sue Troy, and Michelle Murphy. Strong juniors on the team included Mary Connolly and Susan Bauerenfeind. The team is looking forward to an improved season next year with half the team returning and strong players moving up from the j.V. team. Firstg M. Murphy, A. Dempseygj. Mackin, S. Troy,j. Nagle. Outstanding perfor- mances were turned in by heavyweight Roger Caron, senior Rob Cronin, junior Gary Ross, and sophomore Steve Cow- den, all of whom placed in the annual Norwell Christmas Tournament, in which the team finished fifth. Though only three members of the squad will gra- duate, they will be important losses in the heavyweight and 169 lb. classes. The rest of the team will be returning however to continue the fine wrestling tradition in Norwell High. I I be 17 X -5 lu 'hr 1 !-.- .int iff, 'Y Q in gs.. I I fl Af g . ,Vn,5.
