Is A Sellout Norwayne ' s 1984 musical production, The Sound of Music, continued the legacy of fine musical performances on the high school stage. The cast of 42 had much of which to be proud; both nights, the auditorium was filled to capacities which rose to standing ovations. Heading the talented cast was Lisa Allen, who starred as the efferves- cent real-life Maria Von Trapp, a role which took her from a tomboyish postulant to a wife and mother of seven children. Maria ' s husband, Captain Georg Von Trapp, was a part which allowed Ryan Wertz to display his acting and singing talents. Holly Gray as Liesl and Christo- pher Hanzie as Rolf played the young lovers torn apart by political differences. Brenda Eberly played the Mother Superior who advised Maria to Climb Ev ' ry Mountain. Comic relief was provided by Ron White as Max Detweiler and Paula Russell as the lovely villainess, Elsa. The Von Trapp children were; Holly Gray — Liesl, Jeff Geiger — Friedrich, Janie Graham — Louisa, Doug Bertdorf — Kurt, Barb Shue — Brigetta, Erin Balsat — Marta, Rebecca Swartz — Gretl Other members of the cast acted as Nazi guards, or were members of the stunning nun ' s chorus. All in all, the cast gave two outstanding performances, leaving many people from the audience with the thought that they had seen the best Norwayne production in years. Sound of Music 145
