] r .3 yfo fj f One of the three outstanding track members included (left) Stephanie King who ran in the 100 meter dash, Mile Relay, 800 Relay, 400 Relay, 200 yd. dash and long jumped at county. She led the mile relay to State where unfortunately she jumped the gun and was disqualified. She is a 3 year Varsity letter winner and was included in the Most Valu- able Player Award. Another one of the three was Senior Kim Miller who ran in the 100, 200, and 400 Meter dashes, long jumped and was e member of the 400, 800 and 1600 Meter Relay teams. Miller took 4 individual events placing first down in county. She also went down to State in the Mile Relay as the anchor leg. She was included in the Most Valuable Player award, received Most Outstanding and was a 4 year letter winner. Take First in County Last but not least, Senior Denise Valentine ran in the 100 and 300 Meter Hurdles, 400, 800, and 1600 Meter Relays. Valentine was the only team member to really run at State as she took 9th place missing finals by .05 of a second in the 300 meter hurdles. She also took first in county in th» She was a member of the 1600 Meter Relay who made it to nd is the first Norwayne Student to go down to State 3 times in 4 years. ii O ' Hares ' Rabbits yy This was the year for the school records in girls track to be broken for the Bobcats broke six of them in one year alone. Veronica Napier had a throw of 37 ' 7 1 2 in the Shot Put; Steph- anie King tied her old record in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.9 seconds; Denise Val- entine set a new record at 47.7 seconds in the 300 Meter Hurdles; Mary Miller set a new record in the 3200 Meter Run at 13:38.0; The relay team of S. King, C. Chapman, D. Valen- tine, and K. Miller broke the 800 Meter Relay time with a dashing 1:48. 1; and the 1600 Meter Relay team of S. King, C. Dravenstott, D. Valentine, and K. Miller ran a time of 4:04.2. It proved to be an exciting year as the Bob- cats captured the W.C.L. Championship again, went to Districts taking 3rd place as a team, went in Regionals with 5 events, and to State in 2 events. This year alone had two seniors who had the most points in the schools history.
