Basketball FIRST ROW: Phillip Trent, Dennis Bright, Gary O'Neal, Jim Damron, Jack Lane, Wayne Baird, Dale Lovstad, Lawrence Lee. SECOND ROW: Mr. Scott, David Wilson, Gary Baker, Fred Caruthers, Bill Wiles, Jerry Sargent, Jim Iverson, Merrill Beck, Mr.Weberg. THIRD ROW: David Balducki, Jim Weaver, Dick Graham, David Herman, Bryson Riordan, Wendall Kaldenberg, Roger Brightman, Tom McCoy, Dennis Hildreth, Alan Hanksin, Fred Terry The Norwalk Warriors had a pretty even season for the year of 1955-1956, with a final record of eleven wins and fifteen defeats. Out of four overtime games, we won all four. The climax to the season was receiving a trophy as runner-ups in the Warren County Tournament. Jack Lane and Jim Damron are the only lettermen graduating. Gary O'Neal, Way-ne Baird, Dennis Bright, Dale Lovstad, Lawrence Lee, and Phillip Trent are lettermen returning. With all these boys coming out next fall, Norwalk should have a successful 1956-1957 season. Captains for the year were Jack Lane and Jim Damron. Our total number of points all season was 1278 and our opponents total was 1413. A per game offensive average of 49 points and a defensive average of 54 points. Girls Basketball The Norwalk girls won Consolation honors in the County Tournament by easily defeating the Lacona sextettebya score of 67-45. The half-time score was 44 19 and all of the tournament squad saw action. Basketball The Norwalk boys lost a hard fought well played game to the St. Marys boys in the County finals at Indianola by a score of 50-48. The local boys led nearly all the way. A jump ball in the final two seconds was tapped to Shutt of the visitors who shot the winning basket as the horn sounded.
