Our first year in school found us happily seated at tables in a beautiful new room in the Elementary building with many other beginners--thirty five, to be exact. Rickey Strable joined us the second six weeks to bring our total to thirty six. We found that we had only thirteen girls and twenty three boys. Those with birthdays from September through February include: Debby Cass, Jackie Cunningham, Mike Ellsworth, Charles Fischer, Bobby Greene, Darrell Gideon, John Lear, Lynne Martini, Penny Miller, Douglas Morris, Richard Onstot, Carol Robertson, Celeste' Stephens, Sidney Spangler, Mark Snider, Diane Snow Marlene Tilton, Judy Van Orsdall and Ricky Strable. Now that we have finished two readil1g-- readiness books, we are beginning to read in our pre primers. We are all hoping to become good readers. '

SECOND ROW: Miss Sallenback, Charles Fleming, Dean Stark, Duane Snow, Eben Riordan, Steven Harris, Mike Reeves, Donald Beck. , ABSENT: Dickson Wright, Diane Atkinson. Our first grade has a total enrollment of seventeen, with four girls and thirteen boys. We have had two new students since the beginning oi the year. One newcomer is Eben Riordan from Birmingham, Iowa who came in October. The other is Deborah Graen who came from Des Moines in November. Robert Coffey has been here since school started but just came from Conception Junction, Missouri to Norwalk this year. This year we have one boy, Donald Beck, who has had perfect attendance. Kathy Garlock had perfect attendance first semester. We have completed units on foods, trees, and manners and are just starting to study the farm.
