Third Grade FIRST ROW: Cheryl Ray, Jean Devin, Noreen Parker, Judy Cline, JoAnn Eischeid, Johanna Kokke, ConnieBishop, Karen Roberts. SECOND ROW: John Trent, John Baker, Dennis Blackman, Carl Jones, Jimmy Garlock, Richard Toon, Stephen Morris, Marvin Kirscher, Mark Alberts. THIRD ROW: Mrs. Eksell, Polly Reeves, Janet Hildreth, Ruth Miller, Vicki Brumfield, Donna Snyder, Sharon Masteller, Janet Houghton, Marcia Henry, Donna Clark. Third grade started this school year with twenty-six pupils, nine boys and seventeen girls. We lost Brenda Coleman in October when she moved to Truro, Iowa. In December we gained Marcia Henry from Perkins School, Des Moines, Iowa. Two pupils have had perfect attendance for the first semester. They are Connie Bishop and Carl Jones. Taking music lessons each week are Mark Alberts, trumpetg Jimmy Garlock, cornetg and Richard Toon, clarinet. Jo Ann Eischeid and Ruth Miller take baton lessons. Units completed this semester are leaf, plant and rock collections, shelter and food. Our home room mothers with Mrs. Garlock, as chairman, have been very helpful.

Third G FIRST ROW: Cheryl Knapp, Janet Courtney, Dianna Chapman, Gloria Fleming, Suzanne Lawyer, Ronda Weaver, Marsha Overholser, Jane Hughes, and Connie Meyer. SECOND ROW: Mrs. Hirsch, James Walsh, Lynette Hildreth, Patty Dilley, Alan Hukle, Anna Bowles, Trudy Pace, and Mary Vernon. THIRD ROW: Larry Zeliadt, William Tovrea, Donald Coughennower, Ronnie Dirksen, David Johnson, Charles Robinson, Dennis Huff, and Tommy Hermann. ABSENT: Janice Onstot We started our school year with an enrollment of twenty-seven girls and boys, Carol Coleman moved October 14 to Truro, Iowa. Delos Bailey moved to Des Moines, Iowa. We have worked on several units during the school year. The first unit was on sounds all around us. Another unit was on simple machines. We correlated the units with spelling, language, reading and art, The following pupils had perfect attendance the first semester: Marsha Overholser, Jane Hughes, James Walsh and RonnieDirksen. We have all learned to square dance. We enjoyed it very much. Mrs. 'Iovera our room mother and her assistants, consisting of all our mothers, have done many nice things to help with such activities as weighing and measuring the children, as well as serving treats-for our parties.

Second Grade FIRST ROW: Carolyn Casady, Donna Beck, Clifford Bell, Jerry Walsh, Kathy Meyer, Virginia Chapman Craig Patterson, Bobby Tometich. SECOND ROW: Mrs. Jones, Patty Essick, Ronald Rinard, Roger Hukle, Rene Tilton, Dennis Cassady, Cindy Stiffler, Bruce Willison. THLRD ROW: Alan Robinson, Charles Harris, Peggy Turner, Ronnie Miller, Douglas Green, Angela Johnson, Larry Roberts. ABSENT: Jody Clarke, Kenneth Tharp. The 15 boys and 9 girls in our room all attended this school last year. Six of them have perfect attendance records for first semester. They are: Clifford Bell, Patty Essick, Ronnie Rinard, Larry Roberts, Bobby Tometich, Bruce Willison. As a part of our fire prevention study, we visited the Norwalk and Des Moines Fire Stations in October. As a result of this study the children are more aware of their reponsibilities toward fire prevention. Other interesting units of study include the state fair, a farm, and ways we travel. Mrs. W. B. Chapman is our room mother and has helped with Halloween and Valentine parties.
