We returned Mr. Fleming's visit when we made a trip to the Des Moines Weathe r Bureau, where we saw the various instruments and machines which are used in charting our weather. While at the airport, we watched some airplanes and visited Des Moines Radio. Our trip was interesting and we felt it helped us in our studies.

We've also learned many things about other things, other countries, and peoples of many lands through the study of science, history, geography, and social studies. In spelling we've spent many an interesting and informative hour in our books, and the Blue Contest Speller. In competition with Miss Davidson's room, we have had a spelling contest almost every week with words chosen from the blue speller. The worlds have ranged in difficultyfrom third to fifth grade. There have been two prizes each time, a first and a second. Prizes have been books, diaries, valentines, styrofoam tree decorations, and various other things.
