Seventh Grade FIRST ROW: John Bailiff, Jerry Atkinson, Donald Sargent, Billy Joe Cline, Joe De Long, and Marvin Haines. SECOND ROW: Benny Tharp, Charles Dewey, Roberta Baker, Jacqueline Chapman, Jeanne Dillard, Alice Kisor, Karen Lucas, Delores Hermann, Mike Cooper, and Paul Lee. THIRD ROW: Stanley Spangler, Duane Hankins, 'Iom Bell, Sharon Lee, Dorothy Beck, Sandra Dirksen, Judy Cunningham, Jack Pray, Tony Spencer, Jimmie Caruthers, and Mrs. Martini. FOURTH ROW: Dennis Martini, James Tovrea, Carol McKay, Linda Guiberson, Linda Wood, Sue Riordan, Carol Berhar, Larry Coughennower, Mike Masteller. ABSENT: James De Long. The boys still outnumber the girls in our class, but not by such a large margin as formerly. Duane Hankins came to us from Martensdale and is our only new boy enrolled. We lost one girl, Julene Day, who moved to Des Moines. However, we have four new girls this year. Sue Riordan, came to us from Birmingham, Iowa. Sue has lived in many interesting places, including a two-year stay in Yorktown, Virginia, and a three-year residence in Hawaii. Carol Berhar formerly attended Elm Grove School in Des Moines, and Judy Cunningham and Linda Guiberson both attended Lincoln Jr. High last year. We had four girls with perfect attendance records the first semester. 'Ihey are Roberta Baker, Carol Berhar, Linda Guiberson and Carol McKay. Charles Dewey, Norman Haines, Duane Hankins, Donnie Sargent, and Tony Spencer were the boys with perfect attendance the first semester. This fall the seventh and eighth grades went to the General Motors Exposition in Des Moines. This was a pictorial display of the progress our country has made in science and in industry during the last few decades. lt was also a look into the future and a preview of the changes we may expect to see. Our class also visited the Des Moines Public Library where we had the opportunity to see how the thousands of books, covering subject material of every sort, are all catalogued and put in their proper places so that anyone desiring information of any sort may find it quickly and easily. We learned how useful the card index file in the library is when we want to secure information. Members of our class were on the Boys' and Girls' Junior High Basketball Teams. We played several games and participated in the County Junior High Tournament.

SECOND ROW: Mrs. I-lemrning, Phillip Rosander, Bob Damron, Donna Silverthorne, Mary Lou Roberts, Penny Rohr, Nona Tilton, Gary Wilson, Phillip Hill. THIRD ROW: Jerry McKay, Steven Morris, Fred Hoover, Larry Cheers, Larry Jones, Bud Dougherty. Our class officers are President, Gary Wilson, Vice President, Radine Ryan, Secretary, Phyllis Jeanne Rosanderg and Treasurer, Mary Roberts. Our enrollment at the first of the year was 24. There are ll boys and 13 girls. We have one new member this year, Lynda Kaldenberg. She formerly attended school near Coliax. We have played four junior high basketball games this season. Our opponents have been Bondurant, Martensdale, and Carlisle twice. The girls won 3 games and lost 1, while the boys have won 1 and lost 3. We will play in the Warren County Junior High Tournaments at Martensdale which is to be held in March Our first round opponents will be Martensdale in both boys and girls division. Donna Silverthorn and Penny Rohr are the newspaper staff representatives. 'Ihe student council representatives from the 8th grade are Buddy Dougherty and Donna Silverthorn.

SECOND ROW: Sue Stiffler, Connie Walker, Dianna Silverthorn, Jacqueline Toon, Carolyn Vernon, Cheryl Vernon, Jane Riardan, Betty Kirscher, Charlotte Robertson. THIRD ROW: Gary Patterson, Jim Wood, Gail Rohr, Ann Wood, Carlene Dash, Sherry Florer, Susan Woodford, Garl Moore, Jack Jones, Miss Glancy. FOURTH ROW: Weston Morris, Jim Forsythe, Mac Bowles, Jim McVay, Tony Teems, John Patterson, Jerry Anderson. ABSENT: Linda Harvey. Our enrollment this year has reached thirty-five, of which twenty are boys and fifteen are girls. One boy and girl moved away in October. They were Roger Day and Karen Gooch. Three members of our grade entered Norwalk Schools for the first time this year. They are Jack Jones, who came from Ottumwa, Jim Stacy from Des Moines and Jane Riordan, who came from Birmingham, Iowa. The en- rollment at the beginning of the second semester is thirty-three. Of this number, the following had not been absent nor tardy: Jim Forsythe, Jack Jones, Jimmy McVay, Weston Morris, Betty Ann Kirscher, and Charlotte Robertson. Linda Harvey has been absent for some: time because of illness and was not at school when the group picture was taken. Five of our class are members of the Norwalk School Band. They are: Jim Forstyhe, Gary Patterson, John Patterson, Don Cassady, and Thomas Becker. All boys in the grade except two are members of the Norwalk School Patrol. During the past semester our room has been writing to boys and girls in foreign countries. We believe this helps to create a better understanding between countries. The following pupils have received letters: Carolyn Vernon, Cheryl Vernon, Carlene Dash, Jackie Toon, Frank Rains, and Weston Morris. Countries from which letters have been received are: Northern Ireland, Wales, Germany, Nova Scotia, and four states of Australia. They are: Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland. ln some cases several letters have gone back and forth during this school year.
