CLASS HISTURY Thirty-two quiet little freshman, fifteen girls and seventeen boys silently slipped into their seats on August 31, 1953, breathed a sign of relief and launched their high school career. The class officers for this group were President Marvin Rinard and Jimie Damron in their respective Home Rooms.. We lost Jimmy Robbins and gained Janice Cameron of Indianola who became a class member in March, 1954. When we started our Sophomore year we had some new class members. Jean Iager entered from Thomasville, Georgia, Mary Lou Penick, from Waukee and Norman Paulson from Des Moines. Class officers for the year were President Jerry Patten, Vice President Bill Kroll, Secretary Judy Croft and Treasurer Carol Hildreth. We lost Carol Hildreth who moved to Osceola in the spring. Jean lager also left going to New Orleans, Louisiana. The Junior year found the class enrollment totalled twenty-nine members. Clark Harmon moved to Waukee, Norman Paulson and Rus sell Tassin to Des Moines and Mary Lou Penick to St. Charles. Other losses included William Kroll who joined the army, Dean Harvey who joined the navy, and Donald Rhiner who did not return to school. We sponsored the Homecoming Dance in November and used the proceeds to finance the Junior-Senior banquet which was held at the Fort Des Moines Hotel on April 9. The class officers during our Junior year were President Jimie Damron, Vice President Judy Croft, Secretary Betty Miller, Treasurer Betty Hirsch, and Reporter Anne Harvey. Our fourth and final year at Norwalk High School started on August 31, 1955. Our class total was now twenty-six and in January of 1956 Nancy McEnroe came to us from St. Cecelias in Algona. Our class officers for our final year were President Dennis Harkins, Vice President Charles Brick, Secretary Karen Ellis and Treasurer Carol Weaver. Quite a few mem- bers of our class were taking part in the various school activities of basketball, softball, baseball, vocal and instrumental music and Declamatory work. We were royally treated by the Juniors on April twenty-first and we do want to thank them for a wonderful time. The Seniors know that the four years of High School seem a very short period of time. We have our class play to present on April 26 and 27. Baccalaureate services will be held on May 13 and Commencement Exercises on May 18, 1956. Thus another class will join the ranks of the Alumni of Norwalk High School.
