THE SPARK THAT IGNITED THE FLAME 4-M2 has got the balllg and he's off, rush- ing for that end zone. Past the 30 yd. line, past the 20, past the 10, is Stepney going to make it? He's over, TOUCHDOWN!!!, the mighty Pilots have done it again... Such was the relay practically memorized by all press box announcers. Larry Stepney seemed to have the uncanny ability to pick his way through any offense, and posessed the speed to see it through. With Larry backing up the mighty Pilots, and the Pilots backing up Larry, who could go wrong? Theteam's record has justified the answer. As a junior in 1969, Larry made a record never before accomplished by a halfback in the area. He became No. 1 in total offense by 100 yds., an honor reserved for quarterbacks in previous years. For the year 1970, Larry polished off his record with 1,389 rushing yards, astonishing fans every inch of the way. That wasn't all. Stepney received All- Tidewater, All-lVletro, All-Eastern District, All-State, and All-American honors. Not to be left behind in his school life, Larry Stepney bears the titles lVlr. Football, lVlr. Senior and perhaps most importantly, lVlr. School Spirit. ,J -.f it . 4 milf 9 -', - . - .fa 'Has' .Pl ff-.-re . 1 . ,av , ,, . - ' . - -- r -.-' 'w,a.iK- SEAN' -E '97, E .. f.',5' ' ill A ' use '12 .M . -- ,,, . ,. -..g, -- ,, ' ik- life -w ..- ,,-fl, .. ,, ,fx 4 .. 1, -, . .. . ,. vs-- r '.l-:.- -1 ' ,-'-1 ' A '-.
