Foreign Languages i'Far away places and strange sounding namesn might well be the theme song of the approximately eight hundred students who yearly launch their career into the first through fourth year of French, Spanish, Latin or into first through third year of German. From every available nook and crevice of the building comes the sound of Happy Talk as teacher and student drill on the aural-oral skills which will as- sure the competence, fluency and measurable success of the student in his chosen language. Cultivation of, an interest in, and an appreciation for the language and en- deavors of its people are explored. Preparation not only for college entrance but for understanding of the people around him are stressed. Linguistic ability is not the ultimate goal, just reasonable mastery from which the spark for upeople to people understanding is ignited.
