Business Education Qualigf Education to meet the needs of a growing community is our goal in Business Education at Norview High School. Students prepare to accept jobs in oiiices upon completion of business courses. A few of the positions for which stu- dents are preparing are: Stenographer, Bookkeeper, Secretary, Data Processing Clerk, Typist, Business Managers, Machine Operators, Receptionist . . . Upon completion of further education, students can prepare to be programmers, systemators, business teachers, medical secretaries, accountants. Many students in the Business Education Department are in the cooperative work training program in which they are supervised on the job each day in vari- ous oiiices throughout the city. The oliice instruction is considered as an extension which is of the instruction which is received in the classroom. Vocational Office Training may be taken only by high school seniors who have successfully passed elementary courses in basic business and typewriting. The Business Education Department is constantly evaluation and updating each course so that the most up-to-date methods and materials can be utilized by the students who are entering our offices in the community upon graduation. Foreign Languages i'Far away places and strange sounding namesn might well be the theme song of the approximately eight hundred students who yearly launch their career into the first through fourth year of French, Spanish, Latin or into first through third year of German. From every available nook and crevice of the building comes the sound of Happy Talk as teacher and student drill on the aural-oral skills which will as- sure the competence, fluency and measurable success of the student in his chosen language. Cultivation of, an interest in, and an appreciation for the language and en- deavors of its people are explored. Preparation not only for college entrance but for understanding of the people around him are stressed. Linguistic ability is not the ultimate goal, just reasonable mastery from which the spark for upeople to people understanding is ignited.
