Guidance Department The Guidance Department serves to briczlge the space, created by modern mass education, that exists between a student as a member of C1 group and as an individual. In the counseling oHfice, the atmosphere becomes student-centered. The student decides whether to seek information about himself, to make educational and vocational plans, or to express his feelings. He makes his own decisions, takes the responsibility for implementing them, and faces the consequences. Once he has established an effective pattern for self-direction, the student realizes he has bridged the gap and is now functioning as an integrated person, both as a member of a group and as an individual.
