CGNTEST PLAY We did it before, and we did it again! if you'll pardon that over used but appropriate cliche . . . The Recognition Scene from Guy Bolton's famous Anastasia furnished strong acting opportunities for Joanne Arnett and Ellen Bray as the Empress and Anna. This scene won us a rating of Distinguished at both the District and State Drama Festivals. All the credit shouldn't go to Joanne and Elleng Mr. Manning, the director, and Gail Caudel the S t u d e n t director also deserve a great amount of credit. Who knows what next year will bring? Another Distinguished, we hope. The play was so well received that time would not allow them to appear before all civic organizations that requested. Ellen Bray portrayed Anna. Joanne Arnett and Ellen Bray in a scene from Anastasia. Joanne Arnett portrayed the Empress. FACULTY BASKETBALL GAME Q 1095 NH. 3098, Ln swf 3 Kay Ov 411 Man, 12,317 0080 ff fu fig I -Q.. Under the leadership of head coach Charles McClurg, assistant coach John Moody, and Fo-captains John Mat- lock and Wayne Rusbuldt, the Powerful Pilots captured their fourth straight Eastern District Championship. The tie game with Oscar Smith prevented Nor- view from having an unbeaten, untied season and their second state champion- ship in four years. The most outstanding feature of the team was their inyenerable defense, which gave up only three touchdowns, two passes, and one by a fumble. The defense was anchored by linebacker John Matlock and halfback Ed Versprille. The offense was sparked by the fine blocking of the line, and the clock work of the backfield, led by the smooth quart- erbackinlr of Hutch Barrineau.
