It cannot be set off as a department unto itself but must be an integral part of the total school program. The success of such a program varies according to the interest of each teacher in each' pupil with whom he comes in contact. The most suc- cessful program grows out of mutual confidence., faith, and understanding among pupils, parents, and teachers. Through the various guidance services offered, we should assist each pupil in under- standihg himself better, in developing his abilities, in making wise decisions, and in pre- paring for and living a satisfying and successful life in keeping with his abilities, interests, and needs. vm
