However the Pilots, who had the top defensive team in the State and were runnersfup to Thomas jefferson, of Richmond, for the crown, made two notable goal line stands against Maury that proved why the locals won State honors and the Eastern District title. Arnold Groobey scored for the Commodores, who racked up a safety when they nabbed Pilot quarterback Claude Benham in the end zone while fading back to pass. The Commodores rushed the Norview aerialist throughout the tilt. NORVIEW-13, GRANBY-0 Touchdown for Hodges became the battle cry of the rejuvenated Pilots in the fourth quarter as they defeated Granby's Comets for the fifth straight year by the score of 13fO at Foreman Field. The Mixed Chorus began its busy year in October with performances before the County S. C. A. meeting and local civic groups. For the second year they were invited to participate in the massed choirs singing the Messiah in the Center Theatre early in December. Later came the annual Christmas concert, performances at Broad Creek Junior High School and before other local organizations, the fifth annual spring concert in March, and the traditional graduation exercises in june. This year's spring concert also featured a 16fpage souvenir program, prepared by members of all the choruses, and marked the second formal appearance of the Madrigal Singers, Norview's newest musical group. This versatile group made their debut at the annual Variety Show, where their uninhibited performance was delightedly received. In December they revived the custom of caroling in the halls the last day of school be- fore Christmas, and also took part in the Christ' mas concert. Wlieii they were rehearsing for the spring concert, startled inhabitants of the Voca' tional Building heard a variety of sound seeping MADRICAL GROUP. Left tc Right: L. Sawyer, M. Hudson, L. That's one reason why so many girls head for the tele- phone company when they finish school. They know they'll earn good money from the start, even while they're trained, and get raises regularly.
