CLASS OF '46 Hey, more Freshmen ll' This cry came from a fairly quiet hall, next came a rush of feet followed by a muffled cry and finally a small group of brightly lipstick- smeared boys and girls emerged. So goes the first three weeks of any Freshman year and in such a manner the class of '46 made its entrance in September, 1942. Reporting tb classes, we were often seen carrying huge bundles of books, papers, pencils and many varieties of lipstick smears. The freshmen began to settle down and by May we had begun to function as an organized group after having three sponsors. We elected our class officers, Todd Daniels, presidentg Audrey Pyle, secretary, David Peebles, treasurer. In June we became two-thirds, one-half and a few whole sophomores. Once more a casual observer could have beheld a scene of merciless painting of freshmen and once again the Class of '46 was sneaking away, but this time showing only the fear that those horrid seniors might soon start on the sophomores. More than once a prominent sophomore was heard to say, Gee, wait 'til I get to be a Senior. Nothing drastic happened to our class during our Sophomore year. We started, fiqished and in turn misplaced our class constitution. We made two copies of our banner which was ordered and then forgotten. Finally, after almost unbearable waiting, the time came and most of the fractional Sophomores became fractional Juniors. At the beginning of the following year the casual onlooker, if he were still curious, would have noticed a definite change in the class of '-16. Contrary to previous years, the class, under the able guidance of Mrs. Smart and Mrs. Schack, set to work immediately and promptly reordered our banner, wrote our consti- tution and named our 'fprom committees. When the night of the prom came we felt that it reflected the hard and earnest efforts of its producers. The time went slowly and after months of expectation Those horrid Seniors left and the Senior homerooms were left to us, the Class of 516. This year, the once lowly freshmen moved into the glorious heights of the Senior realm and promtly set to work studying and working. Under the joint guidance of Miss Midyette and its president, David Sawyer, our class plunged into its whirl of senior activities. We sat patiently for the photographer, waited axniously for our class rings and pins to arriveg crammed for mid-term exams and practiced into the wee small hours on our senior play, Bert Foot Forward. We were proud guests of the Juniors at our annual Junior-Senior Prom, and ended our social year with a bang up Senior Party! Then the most wonderful night of all arrived. We donned our caps and gowns and with proud faces and quaking hearts we marched down to take our places on the front rows in the auditorium. This was our night and did we shine! As each senior received his diploma, he sopke softly to the junior class, saying, We, the Class of '46 leave to you our schoolg keep it going and keep its honor foremost in your ideals. -Boa Bokjas. SENIOR PLAY Best lfoot Forward played two performances lmeliore a full auditornnn on the nights ot' April 4 and 5. A sparkling comedy in three acts, the play took place in the boys' dormitory of a mid-western preparatory school. The plot was built around the unexpected, but explosive arrival of a Hollywood actress at the school prom. The humorous dialogue and fast pacing of the show kept the audience in a seige of laughter. For the first year, we were upper classmen and we did not take the responsibility lightly. The annual junior-Senior Prom was the big project for the .lunior Class, and we planned one that will not soon he forgotten. Luther Becraft made us an excellent treasurer and haunted us constantly until we came across with our dues. We made plans to change our class rings so that they would read Norview rather than Norfolk County. 11 Il 1111-.v MISS MARIE HINTUN l 11ul zvfic: Annu Starling, Mary l.cn:t hlccki11s, lvlllflilfl Hurt, lfnuly I71lX'lClMlI1,.lL'1lI1 llc Mzuo, l'lll!2ll7L'l h llvrrlck, Bctty jcllnck, l'z1uIlm' Smith. Nlemlwers uf' the staff could he seen running in and out of the rmnn during all hnurs uf' the day and in some cases, night. At that lirst meeting, the stall' lmegan working and didn't stop until this lmuk was distrilnited aniung its suhscrihers. The club was divided intu three distinct groups, editorial, art, and lmsiness and the leaders ul' these departments were as liilluws: Bnls liwries, editurg Anne Sawyer, art editurg and l,ucille Selicmlcralit, lnisiness manager. Alter these various editors and managers were elected, the remaining memlwers were assigned tu the department that most suited their tastes and alvilities. 5 I immediately the work began with the business section swinging into full action. These hard and determined workers set forth pestering all of the local merchants until the desired number of ads were obtained. While all of this was going on, the editorial staff began laying out the pages and collecting material up until the deadline on March lst. The art department, headed by Anne Sawyer, is respon- sible for all of the art work in this annual. Each department worked as much as their feeble brains would allow them, and, with the able assistance of Miss Kier- stead, did a very good job in all. The stag was fortunate in having a few veterans from the staff of the Prior of I9-15. These people helped greatly in assisting those to catch on who were new at the game.', One of the highlights of the year was the snapshot contest, the method by which we came in possession of those original snaps that appear on our snapshot pages. All of this required both mental and physical work but to those of us on the staff, it seemed more like play than work. Now that it is all over with, we only regret that we have no more work to do and when we leave the halls ofour beloved alma mater we shall cherish the days and long hours that were spent in making up the Pii,o'i ' of 19413. GRAMMAR SCHOOI Qi.- Mlss KA'rH1.EEN RCJlTN'l'REE Gmmmzzr Srlzool .imzzml Spozzmr' Grammar School, 1945 '46 The Grammar School was organized in September under the Student Co- operative Association. Through the work of committees set up hy this organiza- tion the grade school began work on the projects which would make Norview School a hetter school. They heautified their building, improved their attendance, set up good health standards, organized a safety patrol, and did an all around good job. The grammar school led the entire school in the magazine campaign, thus enahling the school and the community to enjoy a stadium at Norview, which was promoted from the receipts of the magazine sale. --.I 1-:AN lgUN'l'ING, RICHARD llrxorv.
