There are many roads representing our desires, some long and more winding, with more obstacles to overcome than others; but in the end, may we all have chosen the perfect one to lea } us to success. Posing again 45 46 Salutato nan of Class of 1950 (S-(a55 - 1 In the autumn of 1945 a group of frivolous and not too brilliant youngsters gathered at Nortonville High School for a long and hard struggle for four years with various types of information which we were to cram into our heads for future use. There were 62 in this Frisky Freshman class, sponsored by Mr. A. L. Skaggs, Sr. Some of these had gone through the grades in the Norton- ville school and others had come in from neighboring schools. In our second year of high school we were directed by Mr. R. W. Cates as sponsor. By this time we had learned that there were yet a few things that we might learn, but this didn’t dampen our spirit of fun and adventure, and the year passed very pleasantly. In our third year our number had dropped down to 33 and we were feeling much more dignified by that time. Misses Allie Campbell and Alice Lee Thompson were our sponsors for that important year. The senior year and last chapter of this little history, Miss Allie Campbell has been our sponsor through this trying time. This year we have come to realize how little we know and what work really is. I, Jr. Fox, will my ability for a good truck driver to Carmon Hight. 49 It is the year of I960, and a beautiful evening in May. Everywhere in the town of Nortonville, and surrounding areas are huge posters reading, “Old Home Week. Many days ago invitations were sent to all former resi- dents urging them to attend and stressing particularly this evening when a wonderful entertainment is to be given. All the talent for this program is strictly home talent. Every performer is a graduate of our high school. The hour for the great event has arrived. Every seat in the vast audi- torium is filled, and all are eagerly awaiting the performance in which many delightful surprises have been promised. The platform is a mass of beauti- ful flowers and autumn leaves and the walls are hung with garlands of pine and laurel. It is truly a festive occasion. The occasion is -- The reunion of the “Class of 1950”. Seated in the audience are many celebrities. As I look about me. I see a number of my old classmates. Why there is Harold Smith, the noted “Building Contractor . He has become very wealthy through wise invest- ments. Now who could that be seated next to him? Why that’s Mrs. Smith, whom you will remember as Miss Orean Fork. Mrs. Smith has also become a very noted speaker on home economics. I was just noticing her very be- coming ensemble. She told me that it was styled for her by Miss Evelyn Furgerson who is now the director of a very famous fashion school in New York. Seated near her is Frank Jones who is now a five-star General in the United States Army. He has certainly come very far. Why when we were “Seniors” in 1950, he was only a private first class. Sitting near the window dignified and haughty, I see NeValia Mangum. I ask about her and I am told that she is a designer of hair styles in Holly- wood. Standing in the door looking for old friends I see Robert Davis, editor of the largest daily paper in the state and I hear he is very active politi- cally. If anyone becomes ill I'm sure that they will be very capably taken care of because I see Dr. Fox, who we all remember as Jr. is here. He is the resident surgeon at Jenny Stewart Hospital in Hopkinsville. He was just telling me that his new assistant is married to Miss Joyce Clark, who is superintendent of nurses at Deacaness Hopital in Evansville, Ind. PrU ropnecu 50 Helen Barnes, the author of the new book on etiquette, is just coming in the door. Her book has sold a 100 more copies than Emily Post’s latest edition. Miss Betty Brunson, who is a very dignified member of the Ladies Organization for the preparation of the future home makers of America, is very helpful in making us all remember how we used to dream of our future homes and partners. We hear that the Mansion on the big hill at White Plains belongs to Mrs. Helen Moore. She must be doing all right. We all envy her, and of course the little Helen’s and Harold’s too. We are glad that Miss Mary Rodgers could make it, but I am surprised that she could get off from the hospital long enough. Yes, she is a very reliable nurse at the Vanderbelt Hospital in Nashville. Well, it seems that Archie Scott, or should I say Mrs. Harold Vickery, as that is who she is now, is living on the other side of the lake now. I am certainly glad that Wilma and John appeared. Of course, by now. they are Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham to you, but they are still just Wilma and John to me. They are running a very prosperous business in Harrisburg, 111. I We hear that the former Miss Jackie Large, who is now Mrs. Harold Wooten is just on the move most of the time. It seems that Jackie just can’t stay away from Jenkins, where her folks now live. It seems that Mary Beth Eades and her one and only are living at the noted city of Menser. They sure built a cute little cabin down there and are very happy. They also run the Menser jottum down store. The noted model who appears so distinguished is Miss Jo Ann Hight, yes, she is a model for the most famous agency in New York City. Two of our couples are making their homes in Mannington. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee Teague (Miss Helen Davis) and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sneed (Miss Margarette Robinson) are living in joined rooms. But of course there is plenty of room, in fact fifty of them. P rophecif 51 As you can all guess, the Georgia peach of the crowd is Miss Joyce Prowse. She moved down there for the conveniency of being close to Florida for the winter. I always made it fine in old Kentucky in the winter. Wonder why she didn’t. Mrs. Odell Hamby has just spoken up, as she always did, but when we used to hear her she was Miss Bettie Terry. They are making their home at Ilsley. Mr. Jimmy Maors is now an eligible oldbachelor. He is the owner of the new chain of dime stores throughout the country. So another member of our class appears, why yes, it is Norma Carlton- Cavanaugh, being trailed by Amon. They are living in Houston, Texas. I sure hope she likes that Texas weather. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carroll are making their home at St. Charles but I believe the former Miss Cora Lee Knox told me they didn't have the A mo- del anymore, but a 1956 Chevrolet. I presume they will be trading soon, as they are now the owners of Scott-McGaw Motor Co. Miss Hilda Long is all dressed up tonight, but I don’t blame her. If I owned every restaurant in Madisonville and Hopkinsville I would dress up too. Miss Ruth Menser is now the owner of Museum Art Gallery, in Wiscon- sin. I imagine she has many interesting mumies, up there. She might even bring one of them with her tonight, and I hope so. Miss Ruby Menser is making her home in Washington D. C. where she is employed at the White House, I am sure she is very happy, who wouldn’t be. She makes a tour of the country every three months with the president. Miss Mildred Oates, just couldn't leave White Plains, I wonder if there is still an interest up there to hold her attention.
