MOfTTOM PKftliC UBbAtrr i20S3000cS082cc Starrin The Class of 1983 Plus a ca Norton High School Students THIS PRODUCTION IS DEDICATED TO MRS. DIANE SCULLY AND MRS. DIANE MARTIN We, the class of 1983, dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Diane Scully and Mrs. Diane Martin. In the two years they have been with our class they have turned us around and made us whole. With their dedication, our candy, cookbook, and poster sales have been great successes, not to mention the help that made the Prom, Class Picnic, and Spaghetti Supper special memories for us all. In the time they have spent with our class they have given more than advice, they have become special friends to our class, and this dedication is one small way to show our thanks. ADMINISTRATION Dr. Maurice J. Splaine Superintendent of Schools Mr. Daniel F. Wheeler Mr. Phillip Gorman Principal Vice-Principal Dolores Robbins Janice Backlund r Foreign Language -| r Industrial Arts Custodians Pictured: Louise Sullivan, Bill LaValley. THE CLASS HISTORY Characters: Class of 1983 Setting: A small New England high school Synopsis: We follow a class of stude nts through four years of high school. We open in September 1979 . . . Props: Pencils, pens, notebook, sports equipment, purple and white decorations. Scene I — The cafeteria is filled with nervous Freshmen as they locate their homerooms, nervously searching for faces they know in the halls. Time passes and the year fills with activities. Seniors welcome the Freshmen at the first dance of the year, and a spaghetti supper for the town meeting presided over by President — Lisa Murphy; Vice-President — Ann Mcdade; Secretary — Linda Houghton; and Treasurer — Anne Schleicher becomes the first fund raiser. The year closes as the Freshmen say good bye to the Seniors by sponsoring a farewell dance. Scene II — (September, 1980) The school becomes familiar to the Sophomores and the new class officers Presi- dent — Dan Goldman; Vice-President — Maria Santos; Secretary — Maria Scudere; and Treasurer — Anne Schleicher start the year off with a poster sale to boost the class treasury. Next, rings are ordered with the motto Free to be in ' 83. The first annual chocolate Easter bunny sale raises the treasury to $3,392. Scene III — (September 1981) Class officers President — Dan Goldman; Vice-President — Lynn Juutilainen; Secretary — Sandy Keene; and Treasurer — Anne Schleicher begin preparations for the prom. A place must be chosen, menus music, decorations — the decisions are endless. Committees are chosen and move into action. Meanwhile the rings finally arrive and there are cookbook sales, poster sales and more chocolate bunnies. Then on April 16, 1982 the evening is spent dancing the night away at the Canoe Club ballroom to the sounds of Baby Grand. The theme is Precious and Few and the evening is a great success. The year closes as the search for col- leges, jobs and military careers begins after the realization that there is life after high school. Scene IV — (September 1982) An aura of excitement fills the year. It is the Seniors ' duty to welcome the Freshmen with a dance that pulls in over 250 people. Spirit week arrives and the hall decorating contest brings posters, stars, and Senior spirit together for a first place win! At the homecoming game Queen Lynn Juutilainen with the court — Cindy Sousa, Kathy Blithe, Anne Schleicher and Kim Gustufson watch the festivities from a chauffeur driven convertible. The rest of the fall is filled with the Senior class spaghetti supper and candy and trivet sales for Christmas. Spring brings the prom. And class officers President — Dan Goldman, Vice-President — Lynn Juutilainen, Secretary — Maria Scudere, and Treasurer — Anne Schleicher begin to plan for the Senior class play, the class trip, the Senior breakfast, class night and finally on June 2 , 1983, the graduation of the class of 1983!
