Principal Gerald Travis pre sided, and senior members elected last year interpreted the ideals of the Society. Taking part were Judy Comstock, Beverly Somers, and J. Morgan Bishop. New junior members were JoAnne Foley, Lois Hays, Jerry Archer. New senior members were Kay Lemon, Evelyn Ankenman, Roberta Wray, Sheryl Clark and Eddie Kent. Juniors and seniors eligible for election must be in the upper one- third of their class scholastically, Juniors rate juniors, and seniors rate their classmates on the traits of leadership, character and ser- vice. Faculty members rate both classes. In the election, faculty vote counts one-half and student vote one -half. The National Honor Society was organized at NCHS in 1924 and since then, 166 girls and 100 boys have been initiated into the National Honor Society.
