That year Norton won the state basketball cham- pionship. In our sophomore year pounding, sawing, and buzzing ac- companied the building process as lm Y ---' rs ,L a 55,8 AW, 'ga L- A CL., , Ql ' mst sg' 44, as NCHS expanded. As juniors, among other NCI-IS'ers, we moved to the new addition and enjoyed the improvements. Juniors J. Morgan Bishop, Judy Comstock, and Beverly Somers, and Seniors Jack Henderson, Jerry Hend- ricks, Ronald Johnson, Juliana Wet- ter, and Jim Whitford, took the oath of the society. Those students were selected by their classmates and teachers on the qualities of leader- ship, character, and service. Scholarship is a qualification. 15 Those eligible for election must be in the upper 30 per cent of their class scholastically. Principal Gerald Travis had charge of the program, with the as- sistance of members elected last year, Floy Davis, Rosemary Derks and Grace Jeanine Kissell. Some juniors held offices in organizations, others took their places in music and ath- letic groups. Highlights for the juniors in- cluded the annual carnival, which featured a truth-or-consequence game with the au- dience participating. The class play brought fun for cast and production staff. The juniors created a gala atmosphere, using Paris in the Spring as the theme, for the banquet honoring the seniors.
