The Young Women's Christian Association is one of the most helpful organizations of the Norton County High School. This organization helps to lead every girl to Christ and His work. One meeting each week makes the girlssfeeliiike. leading better Christian lives. There is a membership of about forty girls, seven ofwhom are on the cabinet. The cabinet members hold the positions of president, vice president. secretary and treasurer and are also chairmen of the ditierent committees. The Y. W C. A. has had very good meetings this year, some of them being led by ministers and ditiererit ladies of the town. The social life is not neglected for there have been several parties, some of which were: Freshman reception, tacky party and masquerade party. ,All of the girls in N. C, H. S. wish that next year may be the most successful year we have ever had in Y. W. C. A. work. A. conference which was held near Hollister, Missouri. last spring was to give the gir-ls higher ideals and ambitions for their use as leaders of their organizations. The Norton delegation left Norton Friday morning, June 14 1917, and arrived at Presbyterian Assembly grounds Saturday even- ing. They were assigned to the cabin called Bonnie Doone with twelve other girls from Kansas. The mornings were spent in different classes but they were free to do as they pleased all afternoon. Such sports as rowing and swimming in the White river, which ran just below the camp. or riding down the rocky paths to the villages or wandering around these same paths with kodztks. were enjoyable pastimes for all the girls. Along with all the good times was the association with girls and women who had such strong characters that it was impossible to be there and not realize our opportunities and pledge ourselves to strive for br-tter things for our Y. W. C. A. ..... . ..
