Proctors September marked the beglnmng of the fxrst full year for the Proctor System The system was lnaugurated 1n the sprm of 57 and had a successful trlal run for the remaxnder of that term As provlded for 1n the By Laws of the Sy stem a meetm was held every other week at whlch the Proctors from each corrldor assembled to dlscuss any problems Other than occaslonal water fl hts the West Dorm was a Proctors dream The East Dorm, however was just the OPPOSIIC Bob and Blll Metty and John had to be everything from psychxatrlst to bl brother to slave drner 'Vllraculously they survned and the underclassmen too By the sprlng term the dorm was ln ood shape Due to the outstandm, cooperation amon the students faculty and proctors the year was a sery successful one and establlshed a fme foundatlon for the future Page 39 . . . . . .U , . . Student Councll The Student Councll of 1957 8 has undergone a very productrve year Although not a Judlc lary organlzatlon as ln some schools the Councll has carrled out new ldeas whlch have been of help to the school Encouraged by the effectlveness of the proctor ss stem whrch was 1n1t1ated by last year s group the Councll thls year took another step toward student government by settlng up a student head Walter program ln the fall the Councll helped promote sports and school sp1r1t A squad of cheerleaders was formed and conslderable publlclty was glven to the varrous games Numerous pep rallles were or Partlcularly apparent thlS year was what mlght be deflned as the chlef functlon of the Student Councll the moldlng of student ldeals and behavror In th1s aspect thls councll truly took a grant step forward Late 1n March the 1958 9 Student Councxl was elected and took 0fflCC Headed by Tom Wolf of Dedham Massachusetts It IS made up of the followlng representatlves Chuck Hardles Dave An derson Ned Tyree and Tom Wolf for next years senlors John Carpenter and Hank Stebbms for the Juniors and Jeff Newcombe for the sophomores By changmg reglmes durlng the sprmg the outgomg senlors can concentrate on thexr drrve toward college whlle stlll bemg avallable to advlse thexr successors Page 38 , L . .I D . . . . .
